TUESDAY, JULY 26

BEN-HUR---new trailer released for the remake.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guPTXSTaTak

HAN SOLO---a source say Walt Disney Pictures plans a Han Solo trilogy starring Alden Ehrenreich, "They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies. They're keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies."
The source added, "There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han's early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters."

ALIEN---James Cameron commented on ALIEN 3, "I thought [the decision to eliminate Newt, Hicks, and Bishop] was dumb. I thought it was a huge slap in the face to the fans. [ALIEN 3 director] David Fincher is a friend of mine, and he's an amazing filmmaker, unquestionably. That was kind of his first big gig, and he was getting vectored around by the studio, and he dropped into the production late, and they had a horrible script, and they were re-writing it on the fly. It was just a mess. I think it was a big mistake. Certainly, had we been involved we would not have done that, because we felt we earned something with the audience for those characters."
Cameron also commented on Neill Blomkamp's sequel, "I think it works gangbusters. He shared it with me, and I think it's a very strong script and he could go make it tomorrow. I don't know anything about the production, and I don't know what Ridley [Scott]'s doing. But hopefully there'll be room for both of them. Like parallel universes."
Also, Michael Fassbender commented on ALIEN: COVENANT, "It's much scarier than PROMETHEUS but it's got the same sort of scope of PROMETHEUS. Its kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that ALIEN had, so it's kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films.
I'm really excited to see it, I think it's gonna be super scary number one and then again with the massive scope of PROMETHEUS… Once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it doesn't let up. It's really gonna bring chills to the cinema."

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2---director James Gunn released a photo of the Ravagers which includes Brahl, Oblo, Scrote, Narblik, Gef the Ravager, Kraglin, Wretch, Half-Nut and Taserface.

THE FLASH---Kiersey Clemons will play Iris West in the movie.

BLACK WIDOW---Joss Whedon commented on if he would like to do a Black widow solo movie, "If somebody pointed to me and said, 'You want to make a Black Widow movie?' the answer would be 'Duh.' For two reasons: I think that character really is very interesting and very earthbound and so it's the kind of action that I got to do less of with somebody like Thor or The Vision.
When you get into your Superman territory it's harder to maintain that sort of gritty action that the Russo brothers do so beautifully. And she's got that kind of thing… and really do a spy thriller, really do a good, paranoid sort of John LeCarre on crack sort of thing.
Also, Scarlett Johansson is just delightful. She works really hard, but she just spends most of her time cracking me up, so it would be a fun shoot."

PACIFIC RIM 2---Charlie Hunnam confirmed he's not returning for the sequel due to a schedule conflict.

BLACK PANTHER---Lupita Nyong'o commented on the movie's plot, "The story of this Black Panther is- what am I allowed to say? – The story is that the Black Panther’s leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy."

TWIN PEAKS---Ray Wise said the Showtime sequel series will have 18 episodes, all directed by David Lynch, and will premiere in the summer of 2017.

GODLESS---Michelle Dockery (DOWNTON ABBEY) will co-star with Jeff Daniels and Jack O'Connell in this Netflix Western series about an outlaw who seeks refuge in an all-female town as his ex-partner pursues him.

Please, please let Han be the smuggler outlaw with all the sh!t that entails. For gods' sake Don't make him a cuddly rogue!

I'm still not lovin' the idea of parallel stories in the Alien universe...

OK. So just how much is this series not going to make sense if Lynch is directing all the episodes?

Me neither. But it's been at least a year since I've heard about the Blomkamp project now, so I'm at least getting used to the idea.

Oh, it WILL make sense, but in a Lynchian way. I wouldn't want it any other way. Let's hope he gets to do his thing completely and freely, and that he isn't told by execs to 'simplify' things for the audience.

More like surprised, even if there were no STAR TREK updates in the first post (thank God!). But you never know; they are EVERYWHERE!

Is it me, or does the middle guy, bottom row, look like the director, James Gunn? Gotta check IMDB now . . .
