While part of me expects this to be a rehash of the previous entries (just like most other sequel scores by the composer in the 2010's) I still hope this turns out great and I will keep an eye for it. The first two are among my most favorite scores of 2000's. Which reminds me I should give them both a spin this weekend!

At least one track can be heard playing in the background of the official site:

Is the Digital release on 7th of October or 14th of October?

Samples: http://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_hans-zimmer-inferno-soundtrack-cd-2162604.html

Sounds quite horrible to be honest... Lots of obnoxious sfx à la Batman v. Superman (Kawczynski influence?). I mean just listen to "Seek and Find", sounds pretty unlistenable. Seems to concentrate more on rhythm than melody. The only clips I found mildly interesting were Remove Langdon (though it has an airhorn imitation at the beginning!) with references to Broken Arrow's action style and the only reference I heard to previous themes in Life Must Have Its Mysteries. This certainly is no Da Vinci Code...

My recommendation when listening to samples? Go in reverse and listen to them in backwards order, start at the end (skip "Our Own Hell On Earth") with "Life Must Have Its Mysteries" and work backwards -- I think you'll be much more likely to be won over by the samples. In my opinion all of the best samples are on the second half of the lineup. I listened to all samples in chronological order and they started out really bad but got better and better and better until the very end.

This trailer looks awful...

Thanks for saying that Adam, I thought this as well. It looks visually and topically ugly, and the trailer is such an unpleasant experience that it convinces me to never see this movie.

The trailer isn't very good, I admit. But I read the novel and I think it was the best of the Langdon series so I am really curious about the movie.

As for Hans music, those samples are truly disappointing. My only hope is that melodies begin to show up after the first 30 seconds. I'm going to watch the movie this weekend so I will have the chance to hear it during the film.

Well, it seems like Hans Zimmer kept his promise. A view months ago he stated that the score would be entirely electronic.

Awesome (sarcastic), so each track bleeds into each other, meaning if you want to sit down and listen to one individual track by itself, you get to hear a jarring piece of the previous track at the beginning (or the track begins suddenly instead of organically) and the track ends abruptly as if it's been cut off (which it has been).

Not a fan of that sh**. Oh, don't get me wrong, it's wonderful if I want to sit down and listen to a 70-minute track, but if I want to listen to particular individual tracks that I happen to enjoy more than others, well...

There are maybe 3 or 4 tracks on Inferno that are individualized and don't bleed backwards or forward.

Sorry to be negative, I really am. I try not to be negative on this site and try to push the positive, and there isn't much excuse for using sarcasm to get my point across, but I feel this is a valid point of contention of album presentation.

I'm with you Deputy. Why the hell do they still produce soundtracks like that? I never listen from start to finish. Usually it's a playlist or shuffle. F$&@.

As a CD listener, I always play a disc through from start to finish... I've never singled out individual tracks to play just those. Even when I got an iPod, I was still a full album listener. Individual tracks comes across like greatest hits or compilation albums, which I'm not really interested in, even with CDs... I prefer to listen to the full work in its entirety.

Anyway, I too am disappointed with those samples, and that's coming from someone who loves the Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman scores. This sounds a bit too much like synthesised electronic drone.

Looking forward to the movie though, and I had no problems with that trailer.

Yeah, but that's pretty much the way almost all Zimmer soundtracks work isn't it? Or at least ones for 'blockbusters'?
I'm not saying it's good, but it's hardly unexpected at this point...

Has anyone cobbled together some better album art? The art they used is atrocious.

EDIT

Threw one together to use for now.

I saw the film two days ago. Score was very disappointing. I heard no new themes at all. Just as I thought the Batman v Superman score was horrible. We have a new winner here!

Oh Dear...apart from a few Angels & Demons quotes completely synthesized, this listening experience left me cold and disorientated. What was Zimmer thinking here? I recently saw a short interview on TV in which he says he knocks together his music on a $10 computer with maybe software costing another $20 and urged kids to knock themselves out trying this at home. Seriously Hans I thought this amusing at the time but this score is not funny at all. I would not consider myself a film music prude but in my opinion this is bottom drawer with the bottom missing. A great disappointment after waiting with bated breath for something that could transcend Angels & Demons. Maybe Hans was just not inspired or interested. How does anyone else feel regarding this score?
