And I'd rather have a Desperate Housewives album that contains music from episodes Steve Bartek scored rather than an album containing mostly Steve Jablonsky's serviceble efforts.
I always enjoyed Jablonsky's work on Desperate Housewives. Often it was bouncy and comedic, but it could also be very sad and pensive. I loved both.
Is it possible we might see a release of this?
I agree with you there, I would so love to have an album of his music. I grew sick of the show fairly early on, but his music kept me watching for far longer than I wanted to. It still surprises me that no label ever attempted a release of his music, because it seems quite popular. People put ripped music from the episodes and uploaded it on Youtube, there have been several petitions online. Seems like a no-brainer to me, even if the show isn't exactly a cult sci-fi show with an avid fanbase. Honestly, if shows like Revenge or Gypsy can get a release, why can't this one?
Maybe the soundtrack they actually did release with music by female artists sold so bad that this is the reason why they never attempted a release of Jablonsky's work.
Also, maybe Steve Jablonsky just isn't that bothered about it? I just asked him on Twitter - if I get you reply I'll post it.
I asked him the same question on Twitter today. He will be like "what's going on today?"
But honestly, I just feel like Steve's main focus is on composing music for film and tv, less on potential soundtrack releases. I listened to a podcast interviews with him in which he said he was surprised his Transformers score was released at all, because it wasn't initially planned.
But it wouldn't hurt if a composer pushed for it too, I think.
And I actually do think there is an audience for a release of his music. It was just incredible music. From season one alone, I'd like to have the end music of each episode.
