A tribute to Carrie Fisher from Lucasfilm:

Nice. Thanks, Bob.

And I never recognized before just how lovely she was.

And she seemed subdued compared to the wonderfully outspoken woman I knew from her later appearances and writings.

Out of the star wars films I always thought she looked the most attractive in Empire. I dunno, she really had a glow in that film.

She was MOST beautifully attractive in EMPIRE...and those lovely eyes!
She was also pretty in ALL her tv interviews about STAR WARS from the start - CLASS!

That's because everything about Empire was perfect.

Mentioning TESB brings to mind one of my favorite parts.
It's a small thing and it's going to seem goofy but bear with me.

When Leia is sitting alone in the Falcon cockpit and the mynock jumps onto the window, she lets out this awesome adorable squeal.
It was a perfectly normal and expected reaction, even bearing in mind her tough-as-nails demeanor, which I think went a long way in showing her in a more vulnerable light.
So she runs over to Solo and says that there's something out there (regaining the tough composure).
And here's the part that gets me: instead of making some misogynist wisecrack, Solo instinctively takes her seriously without patronizing or condescending to her and stops what he's doing to check it out.
I think it beautifully shows the rapid growth of his feelings towards her in wanting to protect her without question or hesitation.
I don't know if it was something Lucas meant to show deliberately or if it was a subtlety that Kershner brought to it--maybe a bit of both or maybe neither--I don't really remember if it was written that same way in the novelization.
But I love that moment.

Goofy, I know.

Nah, not goofy.

But notice after he shoots at the "ground" and it begins shaking he runs up the ramp ahead of her? smile

You made me think of JAWS. It's only a glance, a moment, but Quint takes the landlubber, the 3rd wheel, seriously when he says "You're gonna need a bigger boat." There's no interminable Trek-TNG style exposition, just simple action.

For myself, it unfortunately turned into a joke that wore thin very quickly.

Nah, he was really concerned about the Mynock's eating the wires on the Falcon.

The other night TCM re-ran her reminiscence of Mom and it was eerie hearing her words knowing everything that transpired since it ran originally & what we know now.

On a side note, there is a French documentary on the making of The Empire Strikes Back.
