Some of what's been said here is funny or satirical or both, but is there no one else besides the guy who said "all things must pass" who has anything but a joke to contribute to this topic? This is truly an historic moment in the history of our country. I'll always be grateful that as a very small child in Stamford, Connecticut our folks took my brother and me to this unforgettable experience.

It was a weekday, so Mom had sent word to school that her boys were sick and couldn't attend classes. After the big show, our family went to a restaurant, where, to Mom's embarrassment, we found ourselves seated near the principal of our school.

Anyhow, that's my two cents of Americana for this thread.

My parents took me to the Ringling Bros. in Madison Square Garden in the late 1960s. It's a fond memory. I fed the elephants peanuts before the show.

However, I see the circus now as a dated form of entertainment that's time has long passed. I won't miss it.

Sorry 146 years of abusing animals doesn't leave me very nostalgic. That and the stink of animal poop doesn't leave a lot to be desired. Good riddance.
