KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON---Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese may reunite for this movie based on the book about the beginning of the FBI which is described as, "In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma. After oil was discovered beneath their land, they rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions, and sent their children to study in Europe.
Then, one by one, the Osage began to be killed off. The family of an Osage woman, Mollie Burkhart, became a prime target. Her relatives were shot and poisoned. And it was just the beginning, as more and more members of the tribe began to die under mysterious circumstances.
In this last remnant of the Wild West—where oilmen like J. P. Getty made their fortunes and where desperadoes like Al Spencer, the “Phantom Terror,” roamed—many of those who dared to investigate the killings were themselves murdered. As the death toll climbed to more than twenty-four, the FBI took up the case. It was one of the organization’s first major homicide investigations and the bureau badly bungled the case. In desperation, the young director, J. Edgar Hoover, turned to a former Texas Ranger named Tom White to unravel the mystery. White put together an undercover team, including one of the only American Indian agents in the bureau. The agents infiltrated the region, struggling to adopt the latest techniques of detection. Together with the Osage they began to expose one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history."
STAR WARS---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said they are developing more spin-off movies after the success of ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, "To be honest, we are beginning to talk about [the spin-offs] right now. We have four or five weeks immersed in the film 'Han Solo' and we are about to read the script of Colin Trevorrow's 'Episode IX' directed, so we have a lot of work at the moment. In the next six or eight months we will have some meetings about the stories that we will develop here."
A rumor claims Sam Esmail (MR. ROBOT) is in talks to write a spin-off movie about either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Boba Fett, and he may also direct the movie.
FATE OF THE FURIOUS---a spin-off movie is underway starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron in which Luke Hobbs and Decker Shaw team up to battle Cipher.
THE PREDATOR---Shane Black tweeted the reboot movie will emphasize practical special effects for the Predator instead of CGI, "I am standing on set next to a 7-foot tall gentleman in a Predator suit -- so no, it is not all CGI."
INSIDE---20th Century Fox/Neil Cross (LUTHER) monster movie underway about a man who is falsely sentenced to a maximum security prison where the other inmates are mythological creatures.
GEMINI MAN---Ang Lee (LIFE OF PI) is in negotiations to direct this sci fi movie about a retired assassin who is targeted by a clone of his younger self.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---Spider-Man's new suit, the"Stark Suit", will have upgrades over earlier versions such as Droney which controls a drone, GPS tracking, Web Shooter such as an explosive web snare, Web Wings and Spider Vision.
RAW MEAT---writer/director Gary Sherman said Marlon Brando was the original star of the 1972 underground mutant cannibal movie (also known as DEATH LINE), "... at the eleventh hour, Marlon’s son, Christian, comes down with pneumonia in Los Angeles and is, like, on a critical list. So, Marlon has to jump on a plane and goes back to Los Angeles, and we lost Marlon. Which, I mean, we weren’t going to advertise the fact- I mean the whole idea was, is that Marlon is gonna do it and we were never gonna tell any- we were not gonna put his name on the movie, and it was just kind of gonna get leaked out that, “Maybe that’s Marlon Brando” (Laughs). Hugh Armstrong replaced Brando. Donald Pleasence also starred, and Christopher Lee had a cameo.
STAR TREK---Zachary Quinto commented on a fourth movie in the reboot series after the disappointing STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, “I know that they are working on a script for another one and we’ll see how that all plays out…I’m hopeful that we’ll do another one, but there’s no guarantee.”
JURASSIC WORLD---Chris Pratt denied rumors that his character, Owen Grady, is the adult version of the young boy in JURASSIC PARK that Dr. Alan Grant menaced with a raptor claw, “I have heard about that. I don’t see it as being true...I love the idea of that possibility, but I do officially say, as the bastion of Owen’s backstory, but not the creator of the character, that’s not true. It’d be cooler if it was.”
MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS---Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie will star in this biomovie about Mary Queen of Scots who was executed after plotting to assassinate her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.
JOURNEY TO MIYAKOJIMA---Jacqueline Bisset stars in this movie about the matriarch of a wealthy family and NBA team owner who reunites her dysfunctional family to an island near Okinawa to heal its wounds.
X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX---is the official title of the movie which had been previously referred to as X-MEN: SUPERNOVA.
SHADOWHUNTERS---Freeform renewed the series for Season 3.
