The next TCM recommendation has been reviewed in Opening Up a Treasure: The Night of the Hunter (the link below). This highly expressionistic Grimm-like fable appears as if conveyed from a child's point of view. The "hunter" will appear Thursday, October 19 at 9pm PST.
I got back from a week's vacation just in time to turn on TCM and discover myself watching the lullaby barn scene. I had not known it was on. The Guest Programmer, director Todd Haynes, made many fine points in the afterward interview with Ben Mankiewicz. (He certainly seems to have read my book.) I was particularly pleased that he mentioned composer Walter Schumann by name. I must go online to try and catch the introduction which I missed.
