I had no idea that it hadn't been nominated, just as I had no idea that it hadn't won. I have zero idea of what is nominated and what is not, what wins and what doesn't, regardless of year. History usually puts things into perspective. It's certainly now recognised as a great score and a great song, and a great film. Did the film win anything? Poitier? Steiger? Jewison? I don't know and I don't care. I'm just glad that Alex North and Alfred Hitchcock won all those Oscars otherwise they'd have been consigned to the oblivion of mediocrity. Nasty and mean-spirited post (mine). So let me just say that I LOVE that Quincy Jones score, and it's one where all the songs seem to work too. "Foul Owl (on the Prowl)" is big-time creepy, and what's that great track called when the cop car is chasing... what's the actor's name..?... Anthony James (?), a kind of cadaverous character actor, along the road and over the bridge? Great stuff, with Q at the top of his abrasive game, mixing all kinds of techniques and styles into the heady brew. Classic stuff.
