I love this photo of Franklin Schaffner and Jerry Goldsmith that I was lucky to take at a 1986 UCLA FILM MUSIC SEMINAR where Jerry was the Special Guest along with directors Franklin Schaffner and David Anspaugh. What a true Red Letter Day that was for me and so many. The two directors screened for us their current films, I think actually before they were even released. We saw Schaffner's LIONHEART: THE CHILDREN'S CRUSADE and Anspaugh's HOOSIERS. Both of course scored by Jerry. There was a panel discussion after each film moderated by Bruce Broughton with a lunch break in between. I can remember so vividly sitting front row center in that small screening room and Jerry constantly apologizing to us for the sub par sound system in the place. He just wanted his music to sound the best it possibly could for us all. The music sounded Awesome of course and Jerry had nothing to worry about with that room full of adoring fans who would have listened to and enjoyed his music through a child's toy Walkie Talkie if that was all that was available.

I look at this photo and think of all the wonderful entertainment these two men, these two Hollywood Legends brought to us all. Just look at that photo and think of these two collaborators and dear friends who first worked together on many PLAYHOUSE 90 TV Episodes and would later give us THE STRIPPER, PLANET OF THE APES, PAPILLON, PATTON, ISLANDS IN THE STREAM, THE BOYS FROM BRAZIL and LIONHEART. Wow! Thank you Mr. Schaffner and Maestro Goldsmith! What an honor it was to meet you both that day and thank you and let you know how much your work meant to me through the years!

If anyone else on the board was there that day and has any more photos of Schaffner and Goldsmith or any from that day, please post. I'd love to see them. I have more I have posted in the past including Jerry with David Anspaugh and more. Thanks.

In the future, please specify "Goldsmith," otherwise, we will assume you mean Springer.

Isn't that what Logan said? In the Future.

Heh heh - it’s in your head now!

Anyway, no need. If it’s Zooba it must be Goldsmith!
