He will be missed. Loved his shows, and interviews with people around the world.

He was a rock star of the food world, and I think his work on Parts Unknown will be remembered. I haven't had a chance to watch any of this season yet, but it will be a little harder now. He died during shooting more of the series in France, I will be looking forward to that next year and hoping his memory will live on through his work.

Rest in peace. I enjoyed his various travel shows, whether he went to some place I would probably never travel to, or he went to a place I had been to or even lived. His persona on tv was very entertaining, and he would make comments that often made me think. He was also a great writer. Kitchen Confidential was a wonderful read.

Tragic, sad and confusing. He seemed to be a good guy, I liked him; enjoyed his sense of humor. I hope his family, friends and loved ones will be okay.
I enjoyed his Travel Channel show a lot. I never quite knew what image the show was after for him. Was he supposed to be a food guru bada$$? To me, he came off more as that aunt that just says what she thinks and doesn’t care whom she ticks off. It’s like they wanted him to have some kind of swagger but he certainly wasn’t intimidating. Not knocking him, that was just the impression I got.
Confusing as to why someone who seems to have so much – wealth, fame, prestige – would decide to end it like that.
Especially by hanging; isn’t it a painful way to go?

RIP, Anthony, you will be missed.

I didn't know Bourdain in any capacity, except seeing a newsfeed on YT I suddenly recognised him from a cameo in The Big Short, where he appeared as himself in a sketch in which he anecdotally likens rehashed old sushi to the CDO fraud which contributed to bringing about the 2008 crash.

It is a bit concerning when aspirational figures such as himself leaves the rest of us bewildered. RIP.

I'm not familiar with him, but some fashion designer just committed suicide too. I know money doesn't buy happiness, but geez, they have so much more security than the average person. RIP.

The worst part of this--even worse than the guy killing himself--is that he leaves behind a ten-year-old daughter. Yes, she'll be financially taken care of, but to lose one's father at that tender age. That to me is the worst thing about this.

I am sorry to hear this news, but it is all so confusing too. I can't say I know about what brings people to suicide. I know I have suffered great depression and really bad times in my life. Never having to do with drugs or addiction, I have been lucky. I guess these addictions that come back are what ultimately defeats them. Robin Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and others and now Bourdain. I have also lost two friends in my life to suicide. Both were in bad relationships that eventually overwhelmed them to take their lives. Just wish they would have reached out to us who loved them so much. They were not famous or in the public eye.

It's hard to see these people who seemingly have so much going for them. These public eye people. Great careers, hit shows, great relationships with hot women and then they do it. I struggle with it and think of my cousin Pat who is Battling and Winning over Brain Cancer right now. He loves his life so much and wants to stay with us all so very much. He was given about 6 months to live more than a year ago now and he is doing a great new treatment that appears to be healing him very well. He is totally cancer free and continues to heal after 2 surgeries. He wants nothing more to continue his great life. And I think of innocent children dying of horrible diseases, who have no choice. May they those who ultimately lose their lives to suicide Rest in Peace. I feel so bad for the people they leave behind. I guess we never really know what's going on with anyone, unless they open up to someone and seek help.

Cousin Pat may you continue to heal and inspire us all!!

Well, that's why it's mental illness. The brain is an organ, like a heart, or lungs, or kidneys. When it doesn't work right, there are consequences.
