Just announced!

https://www.varesesarabande.com/products/firewalker

We are excited to announce the limited-edition release of Gary Chang’s 1986 score to Firewalker. This long out-of-print soundtrack is making its debut on CD. Gary Chang’s score has been described by the L.A. Times as a “seductive, Latin-tinged score especially helpful in getting you in the escapist mood.”

The film was directed by J. Lee Thompson (Guns of Navarone) and stars Chuck Norris, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Melody Anderson. Norris and Gossett play Max Donigan and Leo Porter, two soldiers of fortune whose adventures rarely result in any notable gain. They are befriended by an inscrutable woman of mystery, Patricia (Anderson). Patricia's map leads them on a quest for treasure in Central America. The films title comes from the powerful guardian of the treasure.

Limited edition of 1,000 copies

The sound clip from track 15 is surely not the end credits! Must be a mistake. Here is the end credits:

I never picked up the vinyl, as I felt the score wasn't as strong as 52 Pick-Up. The end credits was always my favourite part of Firewalker.

Perhaps I "should" buy this, but the total price will be 29 dollars. That's a tough one.

Hope the next Chuck is "Code of Silence"!

Only Chang I've had was "A Shock To The System", so count me as curious.

Fantastic!! I was hoping for this CD for a long time. Thanks Varese!

The only bad memory I have about this score is when, back in 1986, I saw the trailer for FIREWALKER and was fascinated by the music --- and bought the LP before seeing the movie... only to realize the music on the Varese LP was some strange synth music and surely not the rousing orchestra track used in the trailers - that was, as I soon found out, Jerry Goldsmith's main theme to KING SOLOMON'S MINES!

Oh well, still happier, easier times in 1986... and the year of POLTERGEIST 2, my Goldsmith favorite.

the main/end theme was one of the first themes I recorded with a cassette recorder from the movie way back when the movie was released. A great release

Excellent news! I hope this will also be released as a more affordable option than US-released CD.

Just say download. $15.98 is very low price.

Of course! The download won't include $ 20 of shipping and taxes.

Varese shipping to EU for 1 CD is 12, so the total price for this CD is 27,98. And that's in US dollars, so it's even less when you exchange it to Euros.

I can't understand the mourning. I'm sure in EU you pay 25 euros for your everyday lunch, but you're bitching for some low shipping charge.

I live in EU and I bought this CD in a heartbeat. If you like downloads it's up to you, but please don't spoil the fun for us who love physical CDs.

$ 33,32 including taxes. I think that's a lot of money for one cd. I also think 25 euros is a lot of money for my daily lunch.

But please tell me how I 'spoil' it for you by wanting a non-physical release?

Contacted David M. Frank years ago with the question for a CD release of 'Code Of Silence'. He said the tapes were lost, or Backstreet Records lost the tapes, and a release wasn't possible. A shame, because it's a great score

System and Firewalker are two totally different scores though.

Varese has removed the sound clip of "track 15". So it was surely a mistake.

If as good as Under Siege I'll be interested in FW, wasn't aware of this score a premier too, nice, i like that notion, thanks to all at Varese well done.

Got mine the other day. Good interview with Chang in the booklet. Man, those end credits are pure 80’s. Lots of fun. Brings me back.
You can hear many of the same sounds he used in 52 Pick Up. I’d like to get more in that style.

Good stuff!

I guess 3:15 (86) and Sticky Fingers (88) could be in the same style. Sadly unreleased.
