Roger Feigelson writes:

As you know the Excalibur Collection releases are few and far between because they are expensive to produce. We came up with a new series of recordings we'd like to do and are going to try our own hand at a Kickstarter campaign, and we'll be launching the first in a few weeks. Supporting this recording not only gets it done, but also supports kicking off future recordings in the series. And if it doesn't fund, well that was that. But we want to find new and creative ways to bring some love and attention to these older scores. I would be interested in ideas of things people would like to receive for contributing. I'm working on the different giving levels now and would welcome input on things you might like to receive for supporting. Taking a page from others, we're offering advance copies of the CD, attendance at the recording for high level supporters, inclusion in the thank-yous and things like that. But welcome some fresh ideas. We've pretty much selected a conductor (you'll be thrilled) and a venue. More to come when we kick of the kickstarter!

This sounds like the future of how to keep soundtrack CDs going.

Fresh ideas what does this exactly mean. I'd really like premiers or standout releases if I'm donating, the Excalibur, MAF cd's I own I'm still happy with, I looked at the catalogue I have most of these already & their still available.

If this is the way to get Friedhofer's JOAN OF ARC or Rozsa's complete SAHARA and a new recording of BLOOD ON THE SUN, then you can count me in.

Roger, if you are reading this would it be possible to offer some of Intrada's OOP titles. That might be a big draw. Lukas offered a discount for the store, which might be a good way to drum up support.

Slightly off topic, but I do hope after two successful, and hopefully three, that Tribute Film Classics will launch their own Kickstarter Program. It would be great to get a re-recording of On Dangerous Ground.

All of those sound like good choices, especially Joan of Arc, which I just rewatched last night.

Concerning Davefg's comment about Tribute, I can't help but wonder if the conductor we'll be thrilled with is in fact William Stromberg. Perhaps this could be the fruition of whatever Intrada and Stromberg had a meeting for a few years ago.

Kickstarter for Intrada sounds very exciting! And I hope if it pans out they'll consider Rozsa's GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD....

I supported Tadlow's KING OF KINGS Kickstarter effort and will be in Prague this November to witness some sessions. I decided to go for it thinking it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To think this idea might catch on at Intrada is thrilling.

I agree, I still have the Prom - foolishly snubbed this for some reason, I'd buy it on release.

No way ! Premiere releases please. The only reason I selected BLOOD ON THE SUN and SAHARA was because BOTS came out on CD in very bad original sound and SAHARA was done as a suite only by Intrada. If recorded as a two CD set it could be called Miklos Rozsa and WW2. Here's hoping enough people are " listening".

Where did this announcement come from? I don't see anything on Intrada's message board.

Sorry for not putting this in the initial post.

Thanks. Ambiguous title, no wonder I didn't find it.

Very exciting to see this development. If this is the future for funding new recordings, make it so!

Happy to see Sahara mentioned... I'd very much like to see it done one day. smile

Adding a recording of Five Graves to Cairo to the bill would be nice. The 30 minutes of original music released by Intrada a couple years ago is now sold out.

Rozsa's complete JUNGLE BOOK has always been my number one wish for a re-recording.

Also would love to see:

THE HAUNTING - Humphrey Searle
NIGHT OF THE DEMON - Clifton Parker
NIGHT OF THE EAGLE - William Alwyn

Actually, lengthy suites of those three would make a great album of classic British horror scores.

Though he's great I'm not interested in more Rozsa.

You can count me in for Humphrey Searl's "The Haunting" or anything Tiomkin.

Obviously, we all have our own preferences – I won't add my own here – but I've admired all of Intrada's recording choices so far. This does feel like it's quite likely the only way to make these new recordings make business sense, and I will contribute to the extent that I can (sadly, not so much – I've got twins a year from college!).

Oh, and BTW..... if this is successful.... might I suggest hiring Bill, John and Anna! That would be the icing on the cake!
