I currently work and listen to music at home primarily on my Windows 7 desktop. I like having all my music both lossless and MP3 stored on the internal hard drive of the desktop but my computer is also getting a bit old (almost 10 years) and I am considering the possibilities of how I would handle things if it dies or if I replace it before that happens.
Has anyone in a similar circumstances made the switch from desktop to laptop for primary? Are there any good recommendations for a newer desktop computer? Do companies even still make them?
My lossless collection is around 300GB and I know my laptop doesn't have that sort of space in the hard drive for that plus my MP3s.

Desktops are still being made, most retailers that carry laptops have a few desktops, but I've not used one in years. As far your music collection, just pick up an external hard drive with a terabyte or two storage space. They're fairly affordable and small so they can sit right beside your laptop no matter where you are.
