MONDAY, AUGUST 20

HIGHEST-PAID ACTRESSES---FORBES released its annual highest-paid actresses list for 2018.

1. Scarlett Johansson--$40.5 million
2. Angelina Jolie--$28 million
3. Jennifer Aniston--$19.5 million
4. Jennifer Lawrence--$18 million
5. Reese Witherspoon--$16.5 million
6. Mila Kunis--$16 million
7. Julia Roberts--$13 million
8. Cate Blanchett--$12.5 million
9. Melissa MCarthy--$12 million
10. Gal Gadot--$10 million

RAMBO 5---reportedly, Adrian Grunberg (GET THE GRINGO) will direct the sequel.

SUPERHERO---Denzel Washington said he has never been approached by Marvel Studios or DC Films about appearing in a superhero movie, "I haven’t been approached… we’ll see what happens. Never say never."
Bruce Campbell gave his opinion on actors in superhero movies, "That's Sam Raimi all the way. Big blockbuster movies, whenever I see an actor get cast in one of those, I wince, because I go, 'Oh, that poor son of a bitch is going to be in that suit for 10 years.' If shooting schedule's seven months of shooting, you get your one month in the Bahamas, and then you're promoting for three months, then you go right back to the next sequel, back in that same f-cking suit.'"
He added, "My only beef with superheroes is that they're not flawed enough. Oh, Superman's got Kryptonite. Well, what the hell's Kryptonite? I don't know what that means. Give me Ash, the guy could be, he's a gas station attendant, you know? The guy's Mr. Nobody."

THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS THING---Asia Argento, who claimed producer Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her, paid $380,000 to actor Jimmy Bennett after he filed a sexual battery lawsuit for $3.5 million against her in which he alleged that she gave him alcohol to drink, performed oral sex on him and then climbed on top of him for sexual intercourse when he was 17 years old in a California Ritz-Carlton hotel in 2013. The California age of consent is 18. Bennett was four years old when he played Argento's son in the 2004 movie THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS. Bennett also played the young James T. Kirk in the 2009 JJ Abrams STAR TREK reboot movie.
Argento is the daughter of Italian writer/director Dario Argento.

THE OUTPOST---Milo Gibson, son of Mel Gibson, will co-star with Orlando Bloom and Scott Eastwood in the movie based on the book about 50 US soldiers at a remote outpost battling over 400 Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.

BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB---the movie co-starring Kevin Spacey, brought in only $618 in 11 theaters, the lowest box office in 2018.

WHAT/IF---Renee Zellweger stars in this Netflix series in which each season deals with, “the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things”.

NETFLIX---cancelled THE BREAK WITH MICHELLE WOLF and THE JOEL McHALE SHOW WITH JOEL McHALE. It renewed ONE DAY AT A TIME for Season 3.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Veteran character actor Bruce Glover's two most famous roles were one of the two gay assassins in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER and one of Jack Nicholson's private detective colleagues in CHINATOWN.

Bruce Glover played Mr. Wint, one of the two gay assassins in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.

Glover played Duffy, one of Jack Nicholson's private detective colleagues, in CHINATOWN.

Glover's son is Crispin Glover, who co-starred in BACK TO THE FUTURE.

If that means Brian Tyler doesn't score another Rambo film, I'm for it.

I'm not sure what to think about the Argento business.
On the one hand, unwelcome sexual predation is always wrong--no exceptions.
But then I think, what 17-year old boy doesn't know what alcohol tastes like or what it can lead to?
He doesn't seem to have been that oblivious. But who can say?

One thing seems certain--every story has layers to it that we don't always know and may never learn about.
It's like peeling a bloody onion.

(Totally at random, I just remembered that Michael Jackson referred to wine as Jesus Juice (allegedly). Repugnant, if true.)

Me, for one. I tried alcohol later on but didn't care for it.

Fair enough, but Bennett was 17 in 2013.
I'm presuming you were 17 long before that, but there's no way for me to know if you don't say.
Being 17 in 2013 is pretty different than someone who was 17, say, 30 or 40 years ago.
I was 17 in 1978 and my experience with alcohol at that age was pretty meager, so I can't make any sort of comparison with the 17-year-olds of today (or even 5 years ago, for that matter).
You and I would seem to be the occasional exceptions to the rule, at any rate.

I didn't touch alcohol until I was twenty-two.

You're focusing on the wrong things.

1995. Most of my friends were drinking at that point. I wouldn't go with the flow.

I'm in my LATE 50s, and I've NEVER TRIED ANY KIND of alcohol(Won't even eat meat that's been marinated)... it helped that both of my parents were alcoholics.

That's an interesting opinion.
I'm simply saying that someone who's 17 nowadays and puts himself in a scenario where alcohol makes an appearance still has the opportunity to leave (or so I presume, because nowhere did any articles say he was restrained).
There is no question that Argento was in the wrong (if the facts are correct, as reported).
So how is that focusing on the wrong things, especially after I said I don't know what to think about this?

The last Forbes list of highest paid actors had Wahlberg at 68 million, Dwayne The Rock at 65 million. (And so forth.) The ladies have a bit of catching up to do.

She's been filming MALEFICENT 2 this summer. I don't know what her salary is for that, but I do know that 2014's MALEFICENT grossed $758 million for Disney, so if they offered her $28 million to appear in the sequel, it wouldn't surprise me.

I call bullshit. He extorted her for money once he found out she had money.

That is strange because ScarJo has NEVER opened a movie which she was the star- with the exception of LUCY!
