The co-executive producer of ASSAULT ON DEVIL’S ISLAND, Eric Bischoff, claimed that TNT executives had promised to make a 23-episode television series if that film drew over a 4.0 rating, which it did. But TNT didn't make a series, although they did make a sequel, ASSAULT ON DEATH MOUNTAIN, two years later.

In the new film, pals “Mike” (Hulk Hogan), “Roy” (Carl Weathers), “Hunter” (Shannon Tweed), and “Derek” (Mike White), are now a bounty hunter team that also helps people in need. They are joined by new team member “Andy Powers” (Martin Kove). “Laura Berringer” (Lisa Schrage), whose rich ex-husband “Armand” (Dale Wilson) kidnapped their child, hires the team. Also, a chemical weapons expert, “Dr. Sarkisian” (Gerard Plunkett), who killed Mike's old team resurfaces.

Jon Cassar again directed the made-for-cable film, which aired on Turner Network Television on 8 June 1999. Ken Harrison provided the unreleased score. When the two “ASSAULT” films were released on video, Shannon Tweed showed a little more skin than was revealed in the basic cable showings, and the films were retitled SHADOW WARRIORS, with the original titles as subtitles.

In ALIEN SIEGE, the Kulku aliens demand eight million humans or they will destroy the planet. The world’s governments cave in, and the U.S. has a lottery to decide who will be sacrificed. “Dr. Stephen Chase” (Brad Johnson) sets out to save his daughter, “Heather” (Erin Ross), who has been selected. Carl Weathers plays “General Skyler” in the film.

Robert Stadd directed this made-for-cable film, which aired on the Sci-Fi Channel on 26 February 2005. Chris Walden and Matthias Weber provided the unreleased score.

David Koechner stars in THE COMEBACKS as “Coach Lambeau Fields,” the worst coach in sports history. After failing at coaching every sport, Coach has made a career of retrieving semen samples from race horses. He's approached by his old colleague “Freddie Wiseman” (Carl Weathers), coach of the Lone Star State Unbeatables, and offered the job of coaching the Heartland State College football team, who are called The Comebacks. Coach accepts the job and moves his family to rural Texas, despite the protests of his juvenile delinquent/gymnast daughter, “Michelle” (Brooke Nevin). Once at the college, Coach finds a ragtag group of losers, which he attempts to mold into a team. As Coach searches for players to round out his squad, he receives pressure from the locals concerning his future success. As the team struggles on the field, Coach ponders his own abilities.

Tom Brady (no, not that[/t] Tom Brady) directed this 2007 comedy, which was one of those films that wasn’t screened in advance for critics. Christopher Lennertz’s score was made available as a download by Fox Music. The $20 million production was a loser at the U.S. box office, with a $13.3 million gross. Fortunately, DVD sales added another $9.5 million to the take.

Producer Dick Wolf had told the tales of Chicago’s public servants in his “Fire,” “P.D.,” and “Med” shows, but felt the need to include lawyers in the mix. And so was born “Chicago Justice”, which focused on the prosecutors and investigators at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office as they navigate their way through Chicago area politics, the legal arena, and media coverage while pursuing justice.

The show starred Philip Winchester as “Assistant State's Attorney Peter Stone,” Jon Seda as “Chief Investigator Antonio Dawson,” Joelle Carter as “Investigator Laura Nagel,” Monica Barbaro as “Assistant State's Attorney Anna Valdez,” and Carl Weathers as “Cook County State's Attorney Mark Jefferies.”

NBC premiered the show on Wednesday, 1 March 2017, after which it moved to its regular slot of Sunday night at 9 PM. There, it faced “Madame Secretary,” CBS’s political drama, which was the #17 show on television that season. “Chicago Justice” couldn’t compete and was cancelled after 13 episodes.

“The Mandalorian” is a space fantasy television series created by Jon Favreau for the streaming service Disney+. It is the first live-action series produced in the Star Wars franchise, beginning five years after the events of RETURN OF THE JEDI. The series stars Pedro Pascal as the title character, a lone bounty hunter who goes on the run to protect the Force-sensitive child “Grogu” from remnant Imperial forces led by “Moff Gideon” (Giancarlo Esposito).

Carl Weathers had a recurring role on the series as “Greef Karga,” leader of a bounty hunter guild who hires the Mandalorian as well as others for various jobs around the Outer Rim. Weathers appeared in nine episodes of the series, beginning with the first episode in 2019. He also directed two episodes of the show, his final directing assignments. Beginning in 1995, Weathers had begun directing in television, and overall logged more than 30 episodes of more than a dozen different series in the director’s chair.

One important thing that Weathers pushed for in his direction was diversity among an already diverse show. "For me, it can be something as simple as casting background. I wanna see a really diverse [background]." he explained. " And when I say diverse, I'm not just talking about the color of a person's skin. I wanna see height. I wanna see somebody who's got a limb missing. I wanna see in an albino. I wanna see small people. I wanna see children. I wanna see anything that we have experienced in the world to be in that universe, because they're disparate creatures coming from every part of the universe. So why wouldn't they be there? Why would it be this kind of homogenized world? That to me isn't Star Wars at all. And that's what I find fascinating and great about it."

“The Mandalorian” was Carl Weathers’ final screen role. In addition to his acting career, Weathers was also a member of the Big Brothers Association and the U.S. Olympic Committee, handling the career of athletes of various sports such as gymnastics, wrestling, swimming, and judo.

On a lighter note, Weathers was inducted into the International Mustache Hall of Fame in 2016 in the category of Film & Television. And in the MAD magazine spoof of ROCKY, Weathers’ character was called “Appalling Greed.”

Weathers once said, “My first love was acting. I went to Sidney Poitier films as a kid. I sat in the theater and dreamed of being an actor.” Unlike television actors who may play a character for many years, film actors are lucky if one of their characters receives wide name recognition. If Poitier’s enduring character is “Virgil Tibbs,” Weathers’ is “Apollo Creed.” And while Weathers did not have the career that Poitier had, his “Apollo Creed” certainly had the strength, dignity, and heart of a “Virgil Tibbs.” So long, Carl.
