Kind of an op-ed to another post, but I really do think it has possibilities. And it also gives me an opportunity to mention my choice for the most underrated love theme, from THAT HAMILTON WOMAN by Miklos Rozsa.

Anyone else have some unrequited love themes to talk about?

Morricone has written so many spectacular love themes, though whether you term them underrated or not is probably only due to people having never heard them, coming from obscure Italian films.

One in particular stands out though - "Philip and Miriam" from Secret of the Sahara. I doubt that I've heard many more 'perfect' pieces of music than this. It is truly beautiful above all else - and I don't think I would ever tire of hearing it.

Weird....I was just listening to THE WIND AND THE LION, which I haven't played in far too long, and I thought, "Damn, that is one fine love theme", and then I checked this board and found this thread!

John Barry's ENIGMA features one of my absolute favorite love themes ("The Quarry"), and is very underrated.

The same goes for Mark McKenzie's unforgettable love theme ("Mark and Annie") from DURANGO, which I also thought was the best score of 1999.

However, "Bruce and Linda" from Randy Edelman's DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY just might be one of my favorite love themes of all-time; very, very underrated.

Star Trek: Insurrection.
Never understood all the bashing of the cute theme.

Lee Holdrige's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and SPLASH themes.

The love theme from THE HOUSE ON CARROLL STREET by Georges Delerue, as heard in the body of the film. I'd trade anything in my collection for that one.

I've always felt that First Blood's main theme is essentially sort of a love theme.

I get week when I hear it... And goosebumps (?spelled that right?)!!

Thomas Newman´s theme for HOW TO MAKE AN AMERICAN QUILT. It´s actually not entitled as a "love" theme... but in my opinion its gentle and heart-warming melody is the true theme of love woven within this Quilt.

Delerues, Interlude has a lovely theme and for me this is the quintessential Delerue score, the vocal by Timi Yuro is also fab !

Definetely David Newman`s medieval sounding love
theme from "Bill & Ted`s Excellent Adventure".
Generally a terriffic score by the way.

Then there was this very sad family/love theme which Dana Kaproff wrote for "Falcon Crest"
called "Julia`s Theme". His beautiful orchestral music for that series would make a great CD.

The love theme from "Captain Power" by Gary Guttman. This short lived syndicated sci fi show had a great score by Guttman which was conducted by a then relatively unknown John Debney.

Interesting, since there wasn`t one love scene in First Blood. I guess it`s more "sort of a" than "love theme".

Just listen to John Barry's theme to LOVE AMONG THE RUINS, a television film with Laurence Olivier and Katherine Hepburn. It's simple and delicate, yet haunting.

George Delerue's love theme from HER ALIBI, especially as heard on the Varese double Delerue album. It's simply gorgeous...

Well up until Guinness decided to use "All The Time In The World" in their commercials in 1994, the song was very under-rated.

Now of course, its regarded as a classic.

Harold Faltermeyer's WHITE MAGIC- it's got an amazing accoustic piano love theme that is about as far away from Axel F as humanly possible.

Shame it's only used on an extreme sports promo movie frown

The Russia House.
Perhaps not very underrated, but somewhat forgotten today.

Love the score!
(and love miss Pfeiffer as well)

I was looking at LLL's sale titles and found my way to NATE AND HAYES, which I had missed over the years. I was struck silly by that gorgeous love theme, sitting all nice and pretty over there in the neighborhood nextdoor to Barry and Poledouris's bungalows. I've been humming it for two days now, which hasn't happened in god knows how long.
