HEY, it's been a long time since I did one of my personal "getting-to-know-you" questions...so I thought I'd do this oldie again! smile

Are you currently in a relationship? If so, is it in the early "dating" stage or have you been married for years?

Not that I'm looking, mind you (and I would probably have selected another forum than a male-dominated film music messageboard for that purpose anyway), but curious minds wanna know...

Okay - let me be the first this time.

I met Rebecca for the first time around 10.30 am on Monday 25th January 1988, when I started work in a new office in the south of England.

Our first kiss was at a Halloween party that year (I took out the fake vampire teeth of course - is this too much info, Thor?) We got engaged on a weekend break to Amsterdam in 1990 (the weekend of the Football World Cup final, incidentally) and married on 19th July 1991.

She remains the kindest and most beautiful person I know, both physically and spiritually, and I count myself as extremely lucky to have her. I'm not blessed with money or looks, so obviously I had to drug her, and if she ever comes round, she's going to be so narked.

In sixteen years of knowing each other and over thirteen years of marriage, we've never had so much as a cross word, and she is in every way my ideal partner and soulmate.

I haven't the slightest amount of embarrassment in saying any of this to you, my friends, as I say it to her several times a day, and have said it on many and many an occasion as the opportunity has arisen.

In short, she's far too good for me, I'm very lucky to have her, and am very well aware of it.

Chris

I have been in a great 10yr relationship, while not married, not legal, (YET!!) but very committed My husband and I have shared many ups and downs as all couple do but have weathered it through. It was the happiest day of my life the day he walked into it. And it was walked into literately. We actually bumped into each other. Then again the next day at the same place at the same time. So I guess fate does play a part in life! He has taught me to accept myself for who I am and to enjoy life. For this I will always have love for him!!!

Been married 6 years (May 2 is our anniversary), but Surita and I have been a couple for 15 years. I won't try and top Tall Guy's wonderful contribution to this thread, but my wife is easily my best friend and she puts up with my lunacy. She's tops with me.

MORE RELATIONSHIPS, PLEASE!

I was seriously involved with a very attractive Hooters waitress for a while. Our relationship actually ended about a year ago. I don't want to discuss the details at this time, but it was very sad. The story would make for a poignant movie, actually--kind of like a mix between Pretty Woman and Sleeping with the Enemy, but with a bad ending and no James Newton Howard or Jerry Goldsmith score! frown [Funny, speaking of Pretty Woman and Sleeping with the Enemy, this girl reminded me of Julia Roberts to boot!]

I met my wife when we were both doing a touring production of "No No Nanette". She was Nanette and I played her boyfriend, Tom. We've been married for over 27 years and still going strong!

I'd like to be in a relationship, but unfortunately I'm a film score geek.

I don't think this is a valid excuse, Joe Esrey! smile

I think I was probably a film score geek at one time. (However, being a Capricorn, I've just gotten better, handsomer, and more desirable with age! big grin big grin )

What I did was go looking for another geek who could balance his collections with mine. So, I collect the Hollywood movie music, and he collects the Broadway show music. It works out perfectly.

This Saturday we celebrate 22 years together, so we're going out to a nice dinner. smile

(Unfortunately, afterward, we'll probably go shopping for movie and show CDs and DVDs, all of which we have no more room to store!) frown

But, buck up, Mr. Joe, you're young and just haven't found that special person yet. The important thing is to be open to new experiences and relationships and not to hide yourself away behind a stack of CDs!

Well, this is the first time I am posting in the off-topic room (and one of the fisrt time I even am in here)

I am in love with a pen pal I have known for more that two years. She is from China, I am from Denmark which means that the geografic situation not is the very best.
But 6 months ago she did immigrate to the USA and this summer I am going to the USA as well with some of my friends (we did win a journey in a contest) and we are going to meet personal for the very first time.
I am extremely excited about it, at the very time a little nervouse, since I am a very shy person.
She is the nicest and kindest girl I ever have met in my young life and I would gladly trade away all my rarities such as Tokyo Blackout, Cherry 2000 and my japanese Morricone Box set for her love (sorry folks, I know this is not the right film music spirit, but that is just how I feel right now....)

Kind regards
Christian

Great story, Christian, and I really really hope it works out for you. And as much as I esteem film music, you've got your priorities EXACTLY right!

All the best

Chris

ps - now I've got two things to look forward to in the Summer - Harry Potter 3 and the result of your trip!

pps - send me your Morricone and I'll light a candle for you wink

An absolutely outstanding woman who puts up with my many foibles and quirks (of which soundtracks are but a tame example) is my mate. She and I fit, making us better as a team than as a solo act.

No major relationship, just a lot of dating and playing the field. I went on another first date yesterday and the guy was loquacious and very sweet, bringing me flowers and a John Barry CD. My interest in scores and classical music is endearing to him. I’m more attracted to what’s on his insides, like character, mind, heart, etc. He seems very interested in me, but I can’t say that I’m immediately physically attracted to this very, very sweet man. Maybe that will develop over time as I get to know him more. confused

frown The unexpectedly sad thing was halfway through the date I fiercely longed to be talking to someone I knew long ago. Dream the impossible dream. After losing the love of my life, all this dating seems trivial.

After the breakup of a long (for me) relationship I have recently gone through a flurry of dating and have now decided that the best course is a trial separation between me and the female gender.

I, ah, ermmm... actually, I think I did find that special person a while ago; unfortunately, it appears I've missed my last chance. I'm cautiously optimistic I have another, though... embarrassment
