Vicente Gomez (1911- 2001) was born in Spain and early on began to study classic Spanish guitar. He became renown throughout Europe in the days preceding World War II and upon coming to the USA, eventually had his own 15 minute broadcast coast to coast every Sunday afternoon following Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra. In 1941, composer Alfred Newman invited Gomez to contribute some "background" music for the 20th Century-Fox film, "Blood and Sand" (Decca DL-5380, mono, 10" LP) starring Tyrone Power as a bullfighter. Liner notes on The Decca album “The Fighter” below, indicate he also “wrote and played music for “Captain from Castile” and “The Kissing Bandit” and played the entire score of “Crisis” from music written by Miklos Rozsa.” In 1952 he scored “The Fighter” (Decca DL-5415, mono, 10" LP), a boxing film set at or about the time of the Mexican Revolution, and in 1959 supplied his music for “Goya”, (Decca DL-8236, mono, 12" LP) a short Spanish film on the life of artist, Francisco Goya.. His recordings for Decca have always been rare vinyl collectibles. (See photos below). I am unaware of any transfer to CD, but if so I assume someone will note it below. Mike
