The rights to these recordings are owed by the Estate of the composer and my understanding is that in order to release this you have to get three or four family members to agree to it.

To Get that many members of ANY FAMILY to agree to just about anything sometimes can be shall we all harder then you might think it would be. Look to your own families if you have any doubts of this.

Will it happen?

At some point in the future I'm sure it will, but I don't think it's happening tomorrow.

I still have hopes that THE RIFLEMAN will see the light of day, if not directly through H.B. Gilbert's son, then, hopefully through a deal with one of the other labels.

Somewhere on the FSM site, this interview is probably already mentioned, but, on YouTube, there is a very interesting interview with Herschel Burke Gilbert conducted by John Burlingame. Here's part one (the other ones should come up automatically after that)

Thanks for posting this Jim, it's a fascinating interview to be sure.

THE RIFLEMAN cries out for a CD release!

As a youngster I loved the Rifleman TV series and also the comic books. I'd buy a CD soundtrack release in a flash, and anything else that comes out by Herschel Burke Gilbert, what a wonderful composer! I hope the folks involved can work it out sometime in the not too distant future...none of us are getting any younger...right PFK and Cody1949?

PFK and Niall , although THE RIFLEMAN was part of the era I grew up in, I am not really that familiar with the music from the series. The name Herschel Burke Gilbert I am familiar with and therefore you can count on my support.
