No, MINE, ALL MINE.

Check out that Prologue to "Dangerous Crossing"....that is DEFINITIVE Al Newman music...and it totally sets the mood for what's about to come.

What treasures these two scores are!!!

Is it just the one disc tonight?

For as many 'fans' of film music that seems to adhere to these releases, it's intriguing how very few people get technical about the individual tracks, or cues. Are we not very fluent in the technical side of the music? All I ever see/read is how something is so illustrious or melodic, which - in addition to any other reason(s) not aforementioned - seems to be mostly connected to personal nostalgia, rather than musical interest.

Yes. Roger explained on the Intrada forum that the other title wasn't ready in time, so it will be released in the next 'batch'.smile

Is it just the one disc tonight?

Pretty much, yes. The other title won't be out for another couple of weeks. Roger flubbed and thought it would come out in this batch but he confirmed that it had only just gotten past the artwork approval stage.

Oh, Mr. Arlidge beat me to it, I see. razz

I'm curious about Dangerous Crossing, though. So Lionel Newman adapted music originally written by Alfred Newman and Sol Kaplan for this film? What was it written for originally?

In the official announcement of this release, Roger elaborated on the score to Dangerous Crossing:

The score is a deft patchwork of cues written for several earlier Fox films -- a combination of the work of the legendary Alfred Newman and another studio stalwart, Sol Kaplan. Most of the Newman material is derived from The Snake Pit (1948) and the majority of Kaplan’s from The House on Telegraph Hill (1951), all rearranged and re-recorded fresh for this film.

Well, for those who MUST have two releases in one week, stay tuned - there's another one coming shortly, just from a different source smile

These two have been on my "Not-In-A-Million Years" wishlist forEVER. Both in one day? The mind spins. The clips are fantastic. This has brightened a cloudy day.

Somebody please help me out. I'm having the same problem listening to the clips that I did the last time around a couple of weeks ago. When I click on a clip, it goes to a black screen, says "waiting for video" and nothing happens. I've tried it on Google Chrome and Firefox and both say the same thing. Any ideas of what's wrong?

Never mind. Roger over at Intrada helped me out. smile

Well good for the people who wanted this, & I'm sure they'll really enjoy it, but I had no trouble passing. Two films I've never seen & scores I've never heard, & mono. In these tough times it has to be a title I really want. I'm sure it will sell out in no time.

Speaking of video, the dvds of DANGEROUS CROSSING and BLACK WIDOW (also scored by Harline) have isolated audio tracks which are easily edited into cd soundtracks. I think this was posted here when the dvds were released.

I've found my attempts at such things to be generally inferior to what these labels do.
But my guess is that you are not a friend of the labels, or probably anybody else.

One thing's for sure - I'm glad I'm no friend of yours. Good luck making friends after negating and insulting someone you don't know anything about.

Yep, we are on the same page. All I know about you is you go onto an announcement of a new CD and tell everyone how they can get it without paying these pesky labels. After over 40 years of waiting for this music, I really don't mind alienating someone like you.

I mentioned the BLACK WIDOW dvd which is not on cd, and which Harline fans might want to get. And for the guy who said he'd never seen DANGEROUS (or PICKUP), my mentioning the DANGEROUS dvd might inspire him to watch the dvd (and then maybe get Intrada cd, if there are any left).

Getting the Intrada cd is a no-brainer -- it has two scores on it, and I seriously doubt anyone would hesitate to get it just because one of the scores is on dvd. And with only 1200 units, I seriously doubt Intrada will have any problem selling it out. If you've been collecting for years, you should know all this by now.

The clue he gave for this other disc was 'a soundtrack for a movie with no music in it'.

Put that together with an absence of cover art, and I was sure we were getting punk'd.

'A soundtrack for a movie with no music in it'. Hell if I know what it could be.

Harline's BLACK WIDOW was in fact released by Intrada back in July, coupled with GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE.
