Wow, 15 discs, fantastic, looking forward to this, maybe it's the long awaited Rozsa set ?

Yes, wow, 15 discs! My first thought was Max Steiner at Warner. You could easily fill 15 CD's.

Could it possibly be Stothart or Korngold? Lukas's wording "oriented around" could mean one composer dominates the box (Rozsa) but may be supplemented by others (Stothart, Bassman, Waxman). Maybe a box devoted to Classic MGM films.

Is there 15 discs worth of unreleased Rozsa stuff in the Warners library??? Isn't it just a few short scores remaining?

I have it on inside authority that this will be a 15 disc set entitled "More and More Music Inspired by TITANIC" featuring Tiny Tim's version of "My Heart Will Go On" and various tracks by Jerry Murad and the Harmonicats. Hot damn!

Could it possibly be Stothart or Korngold?

I can't see Lukas putting together a big, expensive 2,000 edition box set devoted to Stothart; his fan base isn't strong enough and Lukas would lose his shirt. For $180, it must be something Lukas is confident will sell. Korngold is much more popular, but do 15 discs worth of his scores survive? I was under the impression from the Rhino Korngold set that only partial recordings survive for some of the scores.

I'm stunned there is any question in anyone's mind as to what the Box Set is, after this long wait-----Anything of Miklos Rozsa STILL SURVIVING in the Turner/MGM Vaults, from the shortest to the longest, to the forgotten or famous, including.....

COMMAND DECISION
THE BRIBE
MADAME BOVARY
THE RED DANUBE
ADAM'S RIB
EAST SIDE, WEST SIDE
THE ASPHALT JUNGLE
CRISIS
THE MINIVER STORY (including the Stothart references)
QUO VADIS (the LP and random surviving material)
THE STORY OF THREE LOVES
YOUNG BESS (possibly expanded and certainly remastered)
ALL THE BROTHERS WERE VALIANT (remastered and including the Johnny Green)
CREST OF THE WAVE/SEAGULLS OVER SORRENTO
BEAU BRUMMELL (including the Addinsell)
SOMETHING OF VALUE
TIP ON A DEAD JOCKEY
BEN-HUR (?? Alternates and Out-Takes??)
THE VIPS (LP album master in stereo)

15-20 hours of Rozsa.....15 discs......$179.95.....Whatta deal!!!

Am I the only one wondering what the two westerns are?

Maybe because it is my favorite genre for film music. big grin

It could also include the El Cid LP recording, King of Kings LP recording and the two Ben Hur LP's...? Or not?

The only Morricone westerns that needs plenty of help are FIVE MAN ARMY and DUELLO NEL TEXAS (GUNFIGHT AT RED SANDS). My guess is the former MGM release is more likely, IF it is Morricone.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wonder if I'll even be able to afford the set before it sells out.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wonder if I'll even be able to afford the set before it sells out.

I seriously doubt a set selling for nearly $200 is going to sell out anytime soon. That David Raksin set is still around after nearly six months, and that was limited to 1500 copies.

Unless, of course, it's the long awaited Jerry Goldsmith at Paramount.
