Years ago I put up a video of the intended music for the battle sequence. I can try to repost it to YouTube since they are not as restrictive as they used to be.
Saw the last hour of this on television the other night. Damn, we need an expanded release. The last hour of music is exhilarating. I'd say 50% of the climatic music is missing from the OST. Though as was pointed out about a year ago, not very likely under current rules.
I like the score. There's a lot of great music missing from the commercial release. One can appreciate the score with repeat listens and associating it with scenes from the film.
That said its far from Horners best and considering the amount of time he had to write the score I think it falls short of expectations.
Not Horner bashing, I have the score and if an expanded comes out I will be getting that as well. I know its an oxymoron to say this, but its not a very original score from Horner.
After giving up hardcore collecting since I retired what a coincidence this thread should pop up when I acquired the 3CD Academy Promo in a thrift store that was only given to music branch members. It was one of my last holy grails and went for a lot when it came out. Don't know what it goes for now.
