Having already praised the incredibly low priced yet comprehensive Cosma 40 Bandes Originales box, let me now – that I have eventually received it 10 days ago – single out LES AVENTURES DE DAVID BALFOUR as an instantly catchy, highly melodic score. I have started to play all 17 discs a couple of days ago and am now on the third round. While I found some of the "funny" scores included uninteresting first, I find myself enjoying the whole box more on repeated listens. However, not much love here for Cosma's biggest success ever, La Boum - it sounds a bit like a source music album. Those who are better versed on Cosma might be able to enlighten me. (OK, I have now re-read what's been said about it above. It probably served the movie which I never saw – which applies to virtually every score in this box – , but as a standalone album, I just don't like it.) Oh, and I second Scoremix' recommendation of LE JAGUAR. At times, it remotely reminds me of Barry's Out of Africa.

I hope the second Cosma box to come will contain the wonderful score for "La neige et le feu" (Snow and fire) - fingers crossed , it's near impossible to find the original Pomme Musique release for this one.
