Thought you would like to know that the digital remastering of the 1958 complete roadshow production "Windjammer, the Voyage of the Christian Radich" will screen at the Cinerama Dome on Sunday September 5th at 11:30 AM. This film was remastered in digital for eventual release on DVD sometime in 2011.

Due to the original negatives being incomplete this digital re mastering was done from a very rare composite 35mm anamorphic print located at the Swedish film institute. All three panels were found intact within the 35mm Cinemascope format. This print had considerable color fading and grain problems and the image had to be digitally enhanced to bring back the color. Dave Strohmaier, who made CINERAMA ADVENTURE documentary oversaw the restoration. It has a fine Morton Gould score and will be in full stereo. I think the original 7 tracks were reduced to 5.1 sound, but maybe they can interlock the full 7 track version at the Dome.

Very cool. Hope it reappears both as a Blue-ray and a CD.

Damn. I miss L.A.

But I won't miss the inevitable Benjamin I'd have to dole out for a single seat at the Arclight.

Got the e-mail from Dave. So excited. I saw this when it came out at the Grauman's Chinese and haven't seen it since. I love Morton Gould, too.

Who's releasing the DVD? Maybe they can work with Sony to get the soundtrack on CD as well.
