Cool. Though I didn't heard themes from the first movie, expect the string rhythm from Freddy's Betrayal played in Helicopter Fight. And in Largo Virtouso, there's a hint to the main theme.

Largo's a great score. Will buy Vol. 2.

I keep meaning to check out the first film on DVD (it went straight to DVD in the UK, as the sequel likely will despite the presence of Sharon Stone) prior to the score - maybe I'll just get both albums as blind buys.

Wish I could find English subtitled, region free DVD sets of the two seasons of the T.V. series, which had equally fine scoring by the late great Michel Colombier.

I could have sworn the TV series - shown here on Sky 1 in out-of-the-way slots - was filmed in English. (Either that or it was really well dubbed, and with the presence of so many English-speaking actors I'm going for the former.)

CindyLover,

Thanks for the info in the TV version of LARGO. You're probably right about it being filmed in English, but the only DVD sets I've ever seen are down as being in French PAL copies with no subtitles. Seems to me the series may have run in Canada also. I'd really be curious to see it.

The series was a multinational production involving France's M6 and Germany's RTL (as well as Paramount Television), so it's understandable that the French releases would be French-only.

The action music sounds stronger than the first score but I'm worried we won't hear any of those fantastic themes again. frown

Desplat will either revisit these themes or replace them with even better themes. Nothing to worry about.

I wish I could say this were true, but this score is made up of a considerable amount of drone and the new themes (two or three) really aren't that great. A big step back from the first score. :/

Largo's theme (from Chosen One) appears once, and Nerio's theme a few times, but that's all.

FYI - I called Varese today because their website now says the CD isn't available, but I ordered this weeks ago and it was supposed to come out yesterday.

They said not to worry, it's just not available for new orders at the moment, but they expect the discs in from Germany this week to ship out.

Can't wait for it, and so grateful to Varese for importing them, no problem at all with the delay, as I'm sure it has been complicated for them to work this out.

The first score never grabbed me much, but I watched the movies recently and was impressed by the score for Part II. Definitely picking up the CD.
