Last night was the screening of 1941 at the Cinefamily theatre on Fairfax in Los Angeles. Those of us who attended, were treated with the early opportunity to purchase the 2CD set if thd expanded score by John Williams. It was a steller evening! I saw many friends, watched the movie for the first time, picked up the score, and enjoyed a fantastic Q & A session afterwards! The movie was hilarious! I really look forward to listening to the CDS!! Thank you so much LaLaLand, Cinefamily and everyone else who worked to bring us a great evening!

As i sit at work this morning, I cant help but to chuckle and grin about the fun we all had last night. LaLaLand really did a fantatic job getting this score out. Just on presentation alone i am excited...and I havent even gotten to the music yet!! Please pick it up! It is surely a must have!!

Did you notice anyone videotaping the discussion?

Was there any mention of any future Williams releases coming?

Or future non-Williams La-La Land releases?

Or any hints at what or when La-La Land's next film screening would be?

Hahahaha. fommes is right! Check out my interview with Matessino on www.jwfan.com, where he drops a hint at the end that a new Williams release is coming soon. That is why I asked if it was mentioned at the screening.

The theater where the event took place has a YouTube channel where they've posted clips from some of their past events.

I'm hoping they'll put up last night's panel discussion.

Anyone notice any cameras there?

I didn't notice any cameras. But, I was seated near the front and didn't really look around for any.

Eddie Deezen was great, told some funny stories and was clearly thrilled by how much the crowd loved the film.

It was also a treat to see a 35mm print of the theatrical cut on the big screen. I'd never seen the film in the theater before. While my brothers & sisters and friends have loved the film (warts and all) over the years, it was something else to see it with a group of relative strangers and hear such an enthusiastic response. Comedy, of course, is much better viewed with a group.

The screening was FANTASTIC! It went great. Packed house full of fans and virgins alike. It was certainly the way to see the film if you had never seen it before. Mike Matessino put together a wonderful presentation that started off with old time music, followed by a news report breaking in, and then followed by the lights flickering the air raid sirens going off. It was a great way to start off the proceedings.

One of the coolest things was a rarely seen John Candy as a drunk Santa 1941 trailer that was shown right after the movie. I don't think anyone but Bob Gale had seen that footage. It was HYSTERICAL!

The panel was great. Funny as alll hell. Mr Deezen read aloud the rejected opening of the film where the Columbia Logo comes up on screen, the air raid sirens go off and he tells that "broad to douse the torch!". A truly one of a kind moment. That would have been a classic beginning to the film!

We will certainly be doing more screenings like this to kick off our upcoming releases.

Wow - sounds utterly fantastic!

Hopefully I can fly out to LA for one of them. If you guys are in fact releasing Hook, and if you do a film screening for it, I dunno if my GF could talk me out of buying a plane ticket to LA...
