The Last Starfighter. I don't have either of the CDs, so I bought the LP when I found it a few years ago for $3. Still sounds great.

The Steiner Touch, a Tony Thomas release. After that one I played another Thomas release Ghost of Frankenstein. Both are treasures I'll die with.

Just bought a whole bunch of new vinyl a couple weeks ago, including Dark Knight Rises, Donnie Darko, Let the Right One In and Psycho, as well as (non-film music department) live performances by Richard Thompson (solo) and Fairport Convention. Other recent vinyl purchases from ebay include Pino Donaggio's Un Sussurro nel buio single and the extremely rare Countdown at Kusini score. Still love the vinyl!

Me too. About 10 years ago I bought a copy of OJW on eBay and attempted to rip it and clean it up on some cheap computer programme, the name of which escapes me. Perfection eluded me the very first time I tried it, so naturally I gave up. Haven't played any vinyl since, to the best of my knowledge.

The last time I even handled vinyl would have been around 1990. The last time I listened to vinyl for my own enjoyment would have been @ 1987.

Before college, I collected a grand total of a dozen or so albums plus another 2 dozen or so cassette tapes of stuff I essentially bootlegged. When I entered college in 1985, the CD had finally hit and my music collection took off from there (and I have replaced everything I originally owned 2-3 times over).

I can remember the last vinyl I bought. It was, appropriately, The Last Emperor, its year (1987) making a convenient reminder of the end of the LP era.

As for playing the darn things, there's a stack of LPs on top of my turntable awaiting conversion, but I can't recall how long I've been postponing the chore. I'm amazed that some people actually enjoy the medium.
