Please....

All-capitals in thread titles are helpful and useful because they denote when someone is indicating a film title, like when Dragon53 talks about new releases.

It also indicates when someone is writing with a emphasis or emotion (like when C Kinsinger titles a thread "CELEBRITIES you sat near?", or I titled one "Who the heck ARE these people?")

When you use "all-caps, all the time," the message board becomes a tiresome place to look over, forcing me to sort out who is exercising generally-accepted good form, and who doesn't care to do this for his/her fellow board readers.

Thanks.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one bothered by that.

It looks particularly bad now when there are half a dozen dan the man threads, all in a row, with all cap titles. The forum's yelling at me!

Best laugh I've had all day, ToneRow. Thanks!

I do agree that one should not always use caps, Only when it is trying to bring out certain words of importance . In the thread itself, only titles, actors or once in a while a word one is trying to stress as vital to a point being made, However i can't agree when it comes to the thread titles themselves.A timid man never got a nice lady. i don't see anything wrong with caps on the titles, we are trying to be informative and get people to read things, otherwise why waste one's time here.Commercials and ads didn't become a trillion dollar industry by companies hiding their products.

Sure, but when there is a plethora of thread titles, all of which are in all caps, or partial-caps, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of "trying to get people to read things"? In a forum where all the thread titles are all caps, your thread titles that are also all-caps don't stand out. I'm interested in the content of a thread title, not whether or not it's capitalized (which maks me want to read it less unless it's a movie title). Within a post you can italicize, bold, or underline to emphasize a word or point.

Anyways.... I agree with the original poster--please capitalize letters responsibly!

Then all you have to do is make all your thread titles in lower case
when everyone else types theirs in CAPS. See how it works? big grin

A number of people, including me, have listed several reasons why we find this practice irritating.

We, and those who have not yet spoken up, would be very grateful if you and those like you chose to use all-caps in the ways we've mentioned.

Thanks, Dan.

I think typing in all caps is wonderful.

It lets me know that whatever it is has to be incredibly stupid, so I can skip it without wasting my time.
