But in recent history it seems to be leveling itself out. Or becoming a lesser altenative when it comes to eating out. I wonder, could it be because such establishments over the years have led to the increase in obesity and diabetes as well?. Or could it be because, the so called overweight people made such establishments often to lose money?. They are all but extinct now. You used to be able to get AYCE Alaskan Crab Legs for $12.00. There still plenty around but not as prevalent as 20 years ago, but as posted already, Chinese Restaurants still will at times have it. Golden coral still is hanging in there, but I heard in some locations they have closed. Royal fork, a all you can eat chain in the Midwest has just about closed all it's restaurants, maybe all of them. New York in the 80's and 90's were opening them all over the place, many have since closed.So it depends where you live. I think the attitude for many have change over the years. And most people can't put away that much. Also, there's always a danger in having too much of any one food, in case there's something wrong with it. And this goes double for shrimp, crab, things like that. I'm with ya! Sadly, where I am there's only one sushi buffet within an hour's drive and it's good but mostly rolls; only a little nigiri, no sashimi. And customers line up, so you have to load up when they put out some fresh stuff. We had a great one years ago for $20 a pop, all you can eat. They tended to watch you like a hawk when you made repeated trips to the buffet bar. We had Bonanza Steakhouses back in the 70s' , but the chain in this area was not buffet style. I do enjoy a Chinese buffet, and the more homestyle Golden Corral. I never walked out of there without being absurdly stuffed! side note : one of my favorite South Park episodes is Grey Dawn, when they defeat the senior's revolution by shutting down Country Kitchen Buffet.    Posted:   Jul 12, 2013 - 1:56 AM     By:   philiperic   (Member) You are right -- they are not like they used to be - thankfully. I remember a few times at the Golden Corral and Old Country buffets where I was truly disgusted with the atmosphere, sanitary conditions, food quality, etc. so I more or less stopped going to them. GC is still nearby but the local Old Countrys have shuttered - there's one 50 miles from me. What is new and welcome is Sweet Tomato - still all you can eat but most of what they serve is much healthier choices and much better prepared than the above mentioned buffets -- a great, extensive salad bar, numerous homemade soups , fresh cooked pasta and breads, etc.    Posted:   Jul 12, 2013 - 5:13 PM     By:   Adam.   (Member) I've dined at almost all of the Atlantic City casino buffet restaurants (not the Revel) and the two best ones are The Borgata Buffet and the Taj Mahal Sultan's Feast. You pay your $25-$30 and you can gorge yourself on their steaks and Italian dishes. The Borgata's atmosphere is a little more pleasing to the eye, but the Taj has great meat dishes.
