I like disco, actually (the sophisticated variant, not really things like Bonnie M), but you guys should go to the source for the real thang. You know, Bee Gees and all that.

Does anyone know of any disco based instrumental scores. Something like For Your Eyes Only.
I really love the sound of disco music and think that it works great in SOME films.

NP: Out of Africa

I'm sorry, you must have missed the announcement...

Just not big and clever.

John Williams Herbie Hankock love theme from Superman (rerelease from Rhino) is funny.

Barry Gray's Space 1999 is equally hilarious.

Or the two Disco tracks on Goldsmith's Coma album (one composed by Knight Rider composer Don Peake).

At last someone brings up the grand tradition of 70s Goldsmith pop/disco tracks! How can one not love a track with such a surreal title as "Love Theme from Coma (Disco Version)"?

Also worthy of mention: the two source tracks from the new Magic CD, "It's Only A Game" from The Cassandra Crossing and the love theme from Logan's Run (though they are more pop than disco) and best of all "Kay's Theme" from Capricorn One, which has some good string work. Hell, they're all cheesy, but what's not to like? big grin

I have to admit that I always liked the Meco
version of the Star Wars theme.

When i orginally posted this years ago, i was looking for scores pretty much similar to the content of For Your Eyes Only - not disco tracks but a disco SCORE.

Still have not found anything as satisfying as For Your Eyes Only - this can't be the only one out there.

Anyone can't stick a load of disco tracks on a CD - but it takes someone of GREAT skill to design a disco score (Bill Conti). Of course these days you'd never get it.

Charles Gross' score for the cult favorite BLUE SUNSHINE features some disco, briefly - the soundtrack CD is available with the DVD package.
