CALLING ALL TECHIES!

I'd like to have an avatar on my posts here at the FSM Board, but it has to be in the GIF format. I can't use a photo from my iPhoto software, so I had some photos put on a DVD at Costco, but they are in the JPG format, which won't work either.
So...how did everybody else here do it?

I just tried http://www.convertmyimage.com and it worked out fine. Here's a GIF of our puppy that was made out of a JPEG.

Storyteller, dear friend, I so appreciate your offer.
However...I am a very LOW-Tech guy, and I'm taking baby steps into this digital world.
I don't even know how to "post the image here" for you to convert it for me.

Perhaps you have additional instruction that you can post here. If it requires more than that, please feel free to email me at cekinsinger@gmail.com .

I don't know what operating system you're using, but if you happen to be using Windows XP, here is the procedure I use:

1. Right click on the JPEG photo file that you wish to convert. A menu appears.
2. Move the cursor over "Open With." A submenu appears.
3. Select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. The photo opens in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
4. At the bottom of the screen click on the "Copy to" icon. A dialog box opens, with the file name appearing under "File name" and JPEG appearing under "Save as type."
5. Select the drop down box under "Save as type" and change JPEG to GIF.
6. Save the file as a GIF file.

I believe there is a file size limit as well. So if the GIF is too big it won't work. So you need to make the JPG into a GIF, and make sure it's not to large of a file.

The size thing is tricky if you're new at this. Yer such a swell guy to me generally, why don't you send the jpg to me and I'll convert it for you?
