FRIDAY, JULY 12

CHILD 44---Jason Clarke (ZERO DARK THIRTY) joins the cast of Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman and Philip Seymour Hoffman in this movie based on the novel about a Soviet policeman who is in pursuit of a serial killer who preys on children.

SHARKNADO--- The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's final body count of the shark-feast-fest movie was 16.
Also, a supposed tweet by Mia Farrow that she and author Philip Roth were watching the Syfy movie has been exposed as a hoax.

I, FRANKENSTEIN---photo released showing Aaron Eckhart as Dr. Frankenstein's monster set in the present where rival gargoyles and demons seek his secret of immortality. Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski and Miranda Otto also star.

AGENT CARTER---poster released from the short film starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter who is pursuit of the mysterious villain Zodiac one year after CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. Dominic Cooper and Bradley Whitford also star. AGENT CARTER will be included in the special features of the Blu-ray edition of IRON MAN 3.

GONE GIRL---Ben Affleck is in negotiations to star in this movie based on the novel about a man who is the lead suspect in his wife's disappearance on their fifth wedding anniversary. "Sources" say Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are the three candidates for the lead female role. David Fincher is the director.

IF I STAY---Chloe Moretz stars in this movie based on the novel about a young classical musician who is involved in a fatal car wreck with her family.

LIFE AFTER BETH---Dane DeHaan, Aubrey Plaza and Paul Reiser star in this comedy horror movie about a young man and his girlfriend who has been resurrected from the dead.

X-FORCE---20th Century Fox registered the domain name "X-ForceMovie.com" which led to speculation that an X-Force movie is underway.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS---a graphic novel miniseries titled STAR TREK: KHAN is underway about Khan's backstory. Spoiler alert (see below).

THE FOLLOWING---Natalie Zea, who was a knife attack victim in the Season 1 finale, is returning after signing a new contract.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT---producer Brian Grazer confirmed that Netflix is in talks to renew the sitcom.

PARKS AND RECREATION---the HOUSE OF LIES pair of Kristen Bell and Ben Schwartz will guest star in the new season, but it's not known if they will be in the same episode.

BETTY WHITE'S OFF THEIR ROCKERS---NBC cancelled the series.

SUPERBOB---British comedy movie underway about a shy London mailman who develops super powers after a radioactive meteor lands nearby. A film crew tapes him on his day off when he fights crime and goes on his first date in six years. Brett Goldstein, Catherine Tate and Natalia Tena star.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS---STAR TREK KHAN's creator, Mike Johnson, said, "We're traveling back in time to show Khan's rise to power and give fans their first look at the legendary Eugenics Wars. As the series unfolds we will see the events that led to Khan leaving Earth aboard the Botany Bay, and then jump forward to witness his awakening in the future by Admiral Marcus."

I really like the Agent Carter poster. Wish I could see the short film.

GONE GIRL - well-written, cleverly plotted ... unfortunately every character is at least unlikeable or totally detestable. Hated the book and wonder about the movie ... I'm beginning to think Fincher peaked with FIGHT CLUB. FRIDAY, JULY 12

Overtones, you are right. GONE GIRL was quite a book, and I was glued to it. (And repulsed.) I'm not sure how they can film it due to the first person narration. We'll see.

He must mean "second look." The first look was the two volume The Eugenics Wars: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh by Greg Cox.

What're you doing, using your brain again?! What kind of Abramsverse fan are you?! We're supposed to close our eyes real tight and swallow all this shit WHOLE, without chewing! At least the next Star Wars willl have a new Williams score to help wash it all down . . .

Sharknado for the win!!

If you say so. big grin
I’ve enjoyed many of the SyFy schlockfests in the past, but after John Heard’s character was killed off, my interest plummeted. It was weird how there was such a horrific storm blasting away, breaking windows, etc., yet when the camera zoomed out, the seas were calm, the "rain" was superimposed and you could clearly see shadows and reflections of sunlight. Wonder why they didn’t have the early storm scenes occurring at night?
