@ OnlyGoodMusic - Synth sounding or not it's a very beautiful score. I don't dismiss a style of music outright. It just has to sound good to my ears.
Making a score that's been recorded with a symphony orchestra sound like it was just synthetic is not good craftsmanship. But again, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt considering the people she's worked with.

My guess is, (and maybe Urs Lesse knows the answer), they wanted that "modern Zimmer sound" since the film was geared towards the youth/family market. Would I have preferred a full blown orchestra sound? Yes. But I still love what she did with it.
To me it simply sounds like a good old-fashioned (instrumental) pop score. It didn't remind me of any Zimmer sound, but admittedly, so far I only listened to it once on Spotify only.
Anyone have English translations for the track titles?

(1) On the Ostwind playlist the only track that seems out of order is the last track “Mike Dosen’t find Ostwind". Is the score otherwise in chronological order?
(2) Here's the list of songs in the film if anyone is interested.
What I Got- Sublime Who am I To Say- Hope New Day- Kate C. Havnevik Don’t Let Go- Swiss American Federation Feat- Jimmy Wong Wake Up- Aurah Featuring Thomas Hien Into The Wild- LP Higher- Jasmin Tabatabai
Anyone know where they are placed among the score tracks?
(3) A sequel was made. (Ostwind 2) Did Annette Focks do the score and is it available?
I can't answer your questions, but this is a fine score indeed. Between this and NIGHT TRAIN TO LISBON (also good!), it really put Focks on the map for me.
I really enjoy this score and highly recommend it. It stands repeated listens. I play it a couple times a week. Even at 70 plus minutes it keeps your attention. I bought a new Bluray cheap of the movie on Amazon. I wanted to hear the score in the movie. While the story is standard it is well made. Beautiful scenes of German farm country. Some funny scenes. The girl has done poorly on her finals. Her best friend tries to cheer her up by burning the exam. It goes out the school window aflame and lands in the back seat of her teachers old Mustang convertible. It lights other stuff on fire and of course the only thing that survives is part of the test with her name on it! That starts her summer journey to Grandma to study. But she has a special gift to tame a dangerous horse and spends her time learning to ride. Ostwind 3 is ok. Folks Volume one is excellent. All the scores are rich and hold your attention. Very unique composer! I hope SAE gets volume 2.
