MONDAY, AUGUST 12

THE EXPENDABLES 3---Sylvester Stallone confirmed that Mel Gibson will be playing the main villain in the sequel and Antonio Banderas will appear in an undisclosed role.

SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN---the latest rumor claims Warner Bros. wants Christian Bale to return as Batman for "a potential $50 million payday". A source said Orlando Bloom is another candidate to play Batman, "Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry [Cavill] and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads."

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY---Vin Diesel posted an image as another hint of his role in an upcoming Marvel Studios movie while a source confirmed Diesel is in talks to provide the voice of Groot in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2---after Jim Carrey was spotted on the film set, speculation began that Carrey will appear in the sequel, possibly playing Kletus Kassady.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---Disney chief Alan Horn confirmed the movie will premiere in the summer, 2015.

THE FOLLOWING---Connie Nielsen (GLADIATOR) joins the cast as Kevin Bacon's love interest, "Lily Gray, a Soho art dealer who finds herself in a bit of trouble. When Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) comes to her aid, a connection begins to form which causes even more problems for her."

THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO---sources say Leno's final appearance will be February 6, 2014. NBC has not confirmed the report.

TOY STORY TERROR!---the ABC Halloween special will air on October 16. Voices are by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Timothy Dalton, Carl Weathers, Don Rickles and Joan Cusack.

THE GOOD DINOSAUR---Pixar animated 3D movie underway about how dinosaurs would have evolved if the asteroid that hit Earth 65 million years ago had never impacted. Voices by John Lithgow, Frances McDormand and Neil Patrick Harris.

AREA 407 PART II---poster released for the sequel in which another airliner crashes in top secret Area 407. The surviving passengers encounter government-developed dinosaurs and zombie soldiers brought in to test the prehistoric creatures.

THE LOCH---horror movie underway with Peter Mullan (HARRY POTTER) attached to star. When a very successful businessman's fortunes begin to crumble, he brings his family to Loch Ness to kill them so they won't face the humiliation. But then he must save them after they are attacked by the Loch Ness monster. James Watkins (THE WOMAN IN BLACK) is the co-writer.

SURVIVING EVIL---horror movie starring Billy Zane (TITANIC) and Christina Cole (CASINO ROYALE) in which a tv documentary crew is filming a survival special on a remote island in the Philippines when they are attacked by the mythical monster Aswang.

WHITE DEVIL---movie underway based on the true story of a white orphan who is adopted by a Chinese family which is part of Boston's Chinese mafia where he eventually becomes its leader. James Gray (THE IMMIGRANT) is the director.

NOW YOU SEE ME---the sequel is underway at Lionsgate.

Really?? Even on the level of the shite I subject myself to, the first movie (Titled Tape 407 in the UK) was really a non-starter...

....a sequel? With Zombie Soldiers? Weeeeeell....ok....I expect I'll give it a go anyway!

Orlando Bloom is way too girly and pretty boy to be Batman, neither is he much of an actor.

I tend to agree. (Not his fault, but there you go.)
I was never that sold on Bale as Batman, either.
Both guys are just a little on the slight side, physically.

Yeah, not sure who the best guy is anymore.

Perhaps Armie Hammer, he is like 6'2 or something, not sure about his acting chops, he might be a little too handsome, not sure?

So was Val Kilmer. Can't say Ive ever liked any of the actors whom played Batman over the years. None felt right to me.

Yeah, like George Clooney?
Even George is embarrassed about that.

Ya know Vin Diesel could do Batman, I just do not like him that much.

Strangely enough, I like the IDEA of Clooney as Batman. He's got the looks to pull off Bruce Wayne and the jaw and size to pull off Batman. But the execution of the idea just got messed up, I guess.

I always liked Kilmer. Still do. But when he did a Batman I thought, "whaa..?".

Damn it! I hate when that happens...

They asked him and he declined. Given the negative (and overblown, if you ask me) reaction to THE LONE RANGER, I'd have considered that a compliment.

You are correct, overblown - my gosh.
