Well, why not? He was arguably the best thing in the prequels anyway. Great fun to watch.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back int othe theater.....

So, a rumored Jaws reboot. Well, wonder who will score it? Let's look at some recent remake/revisioning/reboot scoring assignments:

"The Day the Earth Stood Still"
Bernard Herrman. Highly praised score.
To: Tyler Bates: Highly critisized score.

"Conan the Barbarian"
From: Basil Poleudoris. One of the greatest film scores of all time.
To: Tyler Bates. One of the worst scores in the last ten years.

"Clash of the Titans"
From: Laurence Rosenthal. A highly praised score.
To: Ramin Dwjasomethingorother. A highly critisized score.

"Total Recall"
From: Jerry Goldsmith. Widely considered one of his best scores.
To: Harry Greson-Williams. Widely considered one of the worst scores in recent years.

"Robocop"
From: Basil Poledouris. One of his best scores, and a famous film theme.
To: Pedro Bromfman. Score not heard yet, but I think the samples at his site for other films, will give an idea: http://www.pedrobromfman.com/home.php

"Superman"
From: John Williams. One of the greatest film scores of all time.
To: Hans Zimmer. One of the most hated films scores of all time. (if you disagree, you are the rare exception. Sorry)

"Halloween"
From: John Carpenter. Iconic theme.
To: Tyler Bates. A score nobody remembers. Probably not even Mr. Bates!

So, we can only guess at what scoring horror is in store for us.

(JJ Trek doesnt' count since it wasn't rebooting a film, but a TV series)

This most exciting thing about this remake, to me, is that they're sitting on a new-scanned remaster of the original that will be released to coincide with it. Can't wait to finally add Verhoeven's Robocop to my BD library!

I wouldn't be surprised if there is another "Jaws" film, but I would be surprised if it is a remake of the original film/novel. I guess the success of Shark week and Sci Fi's Sharktopuss has something to do with this too.

Sci Fi's Sharktopuss

Sharktopus. It's a Shark crossed with an Octopus, not a cute feline (though that would be a fun movie by itself!).

There have been too-ings and fro-ings regarding a Jaws Sequel or Reboot for years now...sacreligious though it may be, it's gotta be better than "The Revenge", right? I'll give it a watch...

Justin - enjoyed reading your list, but I do tend to think you went for the easy targets!! There are good/mediocre ones too wink
