Starring Sam Rockwell (Moon, Iron Man 2, The Green Mile), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs, Shutter Island, Heat) and William H. Macy (Fargo, Magnolia, Thank You for Smoking), David M. Rosenthal’s A Single Shot is an intense thriller that features an equally tense music score courtesy of composer Atli Örvarsson (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Chicago Fire).
The director wanted Örvarsson to explore the vocabulary of 20th century European art music (Ligeti, Pärt, Tavener) for the score, which has resulted in a dark and mesmerizing score for chamber orchestra. Örvarsson employs a lot of avant garde instrumental techniques in the “John Moon Variations”, executed with great precision by the musicians of the London Metropolitan Orchestra conducted by the composer. MovieScore Media/Kronos Records releases the score album co-inciding with the US theatrical release of the film.
