i think the gun and nun storyline had been around the studios a while, Bob, as we know Two mules was originally a script that Elizabeth Taylor had and talked to eastwood about him playing hogan while they were all on the set of where eagles dare. eventually taylor had other commitments and Shirley maclaine came on board.

BOB DIMUCCI: If Warner Bros. does have the rights to MADRON, who, if anyone, on FSM has released remastered Warner Bros soundtracks? While labels such as La-La-Land, Intrada, and Varese are issuing previously unreleased scores from Warner Bros., the release on CD of old LPs is another matter. Before shutting down, the Film Score Monthly label had issued about 35 LPs that previously had been on the Warner Bros. or Reprise labels. FSM also had issued some LPs that had been on the MGM label, the last of which were the Lalo Schifrin LPs for SOL MADRID and MEDICAL CENTER, in 2010. More recently, Perseverance has undertaken to release Warner LPs. Most of the Perseverance releases have been of LPs that had already had at least one CD release, so these are really CD reissues. But in July, Perseverance issued PENNIES FROM HEAVEN, a Warner LP which was new to CD. Collector's Choice has also issued the occasional Warners LP to CD (e.g. BONNIE AND CLYDE) in the past decade. But, if MADRON is with Warners, Perseverance would seem to be the most likely option.
