Dear Guys:

With last fall's release of the Six Million Dollar Man series on DVD, what do you think are the chances that "we" will ever see a CD release of its best cues, themes and Lee Majors singing.

It's been one of my few Holy Grails, and I really wish it would happen. Now, before everyone starts laughing at me, please remember that a Kung Fu soundtrack just came out from FSM last year, and Lala Records just put out the Rat Patrol.

Also, the Bionic Woman got 3 CD's of music out the past few years.

Please say something encouraging. Why do all the GOOD tv shows never get their soundtrack albums, like the Adam West Batman and others?

Also forgot about the New Twilight Zone from the eights. I really wanted the score from "To See the Invisible Man," out. It was truly beautiful.

Go over to this thread for some pretty recent discussion. I'd love to say something encouraging, but.....

Well, thanks for the info. I'm glad to see I'm not alone with wanting this "Holy Grail." It's funny how so many current shows, I cannot stand their music, but I love the instrumentation in earlier series.

My favorite two episodes, music-wise, is "The Bionic Woman" parts 1 &2 and "The Secret of Bigfoot," parts 1`& 2.

Great music.

Guys, which cues from which episodes would you want on a hypothetical six million dollar man soundtrack? I confess as mentioned before, "the secret of bigfoot, parts 1 and 2, and the bionic woman 1 and 2 are the ones I want the most?

Do you think that would take one or two CD?

Which cues would you want?

I'd love a SMDM set one day, and I'm sure it'll happen but I couldn't really list the cues. I think there would probably need to be more than 2 CD's though - certainly for Oliver Nelson's work alone, and I personally like a lot of J.J. Johnson's too.

I want "The Secret of Bigfoot" parts 1 and 2, "The Bionic Woman" parts 1 & 2, and the "The Return of the Bionic Woman" parts 1 and 2.

I really hope there's inclusion of Lee Majors' rendition of "Sweet Jamie" is included. That man can sing.

I would want "The Bionic Woman" parts 1 and 2, plus the library cues heard in that episode. "The Seven Million Dollar Man" and "The Secret of Bigfoot" would be great. Lots of others, as well.

But honestly, we'll take whatever we can get. If anything ever comes out, it's going to be a question of what tapes can be found, and which ones are in good shape.

The best scores were written during season 2:
see "The Pioneers", "The Seven Million Dollar Man", "The Midas Touch".

"Pilot Error" features a re-arranged Columbo cue from "The Greenhouse Jungle".

What episode scores do you want the most?

As I watched again the complete series a couple of years ago focusing on purpose on the soundtrack, here are my favorite episodes regarding the music (all by Oliver Nelson) - Season 1 to Season 3 only:

SEASON 1:

POPULATION:ZERO (that final run is great...)
EYEWITNESS TO MURDER
Dr WELLS IS MISSING (that hand fight in the snow is gorgeous...)
THE LAST OF THE 4TH OF JULYS
BURNING BRIGHT

"Burning Bright" is stock music.

There were some excellent recreations from TSMDM & TBW a few years ago and downloaded.

By STIKS1969 on YouTube

As a keen runner who sometimes listens to music when running, I have these on a playlist and they're great.

I'd also make the point that TSMDM TV series helped put me on a path to being a lifelong runner.

I can't say listening to the music makes me a faster runner, but perhaps I feel like it.

I'd buy an official release on CD in a heartbeat

I like jazz,(and Gato, up to a point) but I couldn't bear that piece after about the 2.30 minute mark, to be honest.

Sort of fusion jazz indeed, with some sax impro by Barbieri.
But always with solid SMDM based upon Oliver Nelson background music all throughout.
