Not sure why we're suddenly on to INTERSTELLAR here -- but yeah, masterpiece film and score.

I was just pointing out that Zimmer is not.that different than Goldsmith or Williams ..i.e. he can deliver a thematic, dramatic, emotionally satisfying score.

Well yeah, if you count that one time he delivered a thematic, dramatic, emotionally satisfying score. Rises and Inter ain't it.

What about SPIRIT?

I think so!

Just curious... did your order arrive, or are you still waiting?

I'm still waiting. frown No clue when or if it will arrive.

Yeah... me too. Also NL frown

According to the tracking it's in The Netherlands since the 24th of December. Don't know what's the hold up.

Hey Frank V

No, but according to the tracking it arrived at PostNL on Wednesday and they sorted my package a half an hour ago, but it's not out for delivery yet. Hopefully it will be very soon. It's been a long wait.

EDIT: They tried to deliver the package today, but I was at work, so I can pick it up tomorrow at a pickup location nearby.

I'd love to know the thinking behind those alternate POSEIDON ADVENTURE Main Title cues.
They're just so crazy/different to the ones we know and love.
All I can see, when I play them, is Susannah York, in IMAGES, running towards the CE3K Mothership, to play with the little aliens. Bizarre, brilliant stuff. The 70's Williams before the Spielberg/Lucas bomb.

I haven't fully digested this set yet, but my word, it's fkn brilliant!

I'm looking at the documentation again, and it remains a head scratcher. The two were recorded one right after the other, the alternate being indicated as "version B." One of the two takes of the alternate was marked as the preferred, but both were included on CD because we had them. On the dubbing logs the start and end points are exactly the same for both versions... start is "Just after closer shot of ship" and end is "Cut to Int. Bridge." All I can think is that the alternate would have required much more emphasis on the sound effects in order to work.

Thanks Mike.
It'd be interesting to see someone do a match up of the alt Titles with the film visuals, like what Mutant does from time to time.
It's also brilliant to hear how different the Earthquake LP experience is, compared to the Earthquake score experience.
The LP is such a mis-match (or exotic concoction) of 70's funky tunes, elevator/lounge muzak and a smattering of suspense/drama cues with a dash of tranquil/serene JW.
The score is so much more edgy and raw. Lots of pounding low-end piano, which would go on to inform the suspense stuff in Missouri Breaks. But as someone says above, some LP versions sound so much better than the more raw score versions, especially that amazing The City Sleeps track. But it's bloody great having both.

Here it is. I was able to keep the sound effects and I used the suggested start/end points mentioned above. Love those otherworldly voices that coincide with the howling wind. Very spooky stuff.

Thanks for posting that clip, Mutant!

This set is fantastic. I'm listening to it regularly for weeks now. The upgrade especially on The Towering Inferno is amazing. My favorite track "An Architect’s Dream" still has heavy distortion in the brass and later on in the woodwinds but thankfully there is a better version to be found in the album tracks since the alternate version also has the distortion.

Holy cow!

I really love the movie as is. But, man! I'd love to see what kind of movie that main title suggests. Like a cross between the Irwin Allen disaster film we know, and a Stanley Kubrick version.

Thanks for putting this together, Mutant!

That was excellent! It would have given the movie a whole other feel.

That version gives the opening am ore ominous feel, especially when the text comes on screen.
