5 discs in 4 cases? Yeah I wonder what got paired in a single case together. Looks like a gorgeous package in any case! Personally, I would have been fine with them pairing Goldsmith's second Apes score with Rosenman's second Apes score, since they both would have fit comfortably together on a single disc. But then that would have messed with the chronology a bit, and I guess some purists wouldn't want to mix Goldsmith and Rosenman on the same disc? Personally, while I'm not a big Rosenman fan and don't really like his first Apes score, I *do* really dig his second! So I wouldn't have minded him following up Jerry on disc, in this case. Yavar

OMG!! What a SPLENDID Set! I'm SO excited about this new collaboration with Varése Sarabande. Totally unexpected. And the perspectives of such collaboration are huge! Please MV, please elaborate more about this!

I should have known it couldn't be a premiere release of quality like FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON. Lalaland runs true to form. Looking on the bright side, it's money saved. What a terribly negative presence you often are, whenever you don't get what you want and feel entitled to. Why even bother posting what you did? I'm sure LLL put a TON of work into making this happen (and no doubt it cost a pretty penny to license the two Goldsmith scores from Varese, especially since they've never done such a thing before)... only to you come in here and complain. I think they're probably even working on From the Earth to the Moon still, to boot, so it must really hurt them to see this kind of comment, especially since you indicate with "true to form" that LLL is *always* disappointing to you. Sheesh. And these are late 60s/early 70s scores too, so you'd think you might hold off with the disparaging comments. Personally, I'm really glad that Goldsmith's two scores have been given the fresh Mattesino treatment, as I think there was room for sound improvement. The Varese complete release of the original score in particular is over a quarter century old, at this point! And even when it was brand new, it didn't sound as good as the Intrada expansion (which only added The Hunt) from a few years earlier. This is actually a much-needed and much-deserved reissue, and I hope it sells like gangbusters for LLL. And this is also super exciting because it means that Varese is now willing to license titles they control to other labels. So LLL could maybe collaborate with Varese to give us a premiere release of the film recordings of Rozsa's Eye of the Needle, Elfman's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, or Horner's Brainstorm! Hell, maybe Kritzerland could give us a complete The Other or David Raksin's magnum opus, Forever Amber (also a Varese-in-perpetuity title)! But if one is too busy being negative because there's no "new" music here in this set, I guess those thoughts might not even occur to them... Yavar

Jerry's PLANET OF THE APES is one of my favorite film scores of all times, and I am super thrilled someone finally hired Mike Matessino to work his magic on the surviving elements and give us a definitive presentation. I can't wait to hear it!

So I wonder if releasing on this historic date is just total coincidence because PotA was ready...or if LLL was trolling a little bit ("hey, PotA has astronauts in it!") Yavar

Never saw this coming. Fantastic release. I've had all the "Apes" soundtracks for years, and have played and enjoyed all of them many times over. This looks like a great set. Count me in! And maybe we'll see the release of both "Flint" original soundtracks in complete form in the not too distant future. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES! And The Other - complete! And Mephisto Waltz - with missing overlays restored! Yavar

This is a big deal ,Varese finally doing something with the rights they hold on a tile other than holding onto it in perpetuity. Maybe they just wanted the box set as much and played ball and there's nothing more to be gained from it, or maybe it'll lead somewhere; time will tell, but still exciting! I've purposefully held off on any PotA score releases hoping that one day something like this would happen, and low and behold it has.

Let's drink in the awesomeness of a 500th release, a release that marks an unprecedented collaboration and one that makes OOP scores available again in stunning sound. Also amazing notes from some of our most knowledgeable peeps. Plenty of time later to ask about further potential releases. So, how about we enjoy this one? oxo
