I am usually not a Williams fan (got burned out on his music), but I will definitely buy this one. I have always loved the score.

Where's Enya's song ? frown

Ditto. I would expect this reissue to include BOTH versions of the song (with lyrics and instrumental only versions).

Except that this is a John Williams album. His End Credits suite was shortened for the movie just so they could include the Enya song, which was not created for the film and has nothing to do with the movie otherwise. It's also controlled by Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group does not have sublicensing rights to the song. It would have cost more per unit to license it than it would for one to buy it separately. It's readily available in numerous places.

Glad to have it left off, and thanks for the explanation Mike!

I didn't realise the song wasn't created for the film. So the lyric "Far and away" in it is just a coincidence? Not a deal-breaker, though I do enjoy the song.

Not sure why this even needs to be explained at this point but much appreciated anyway, Mike.

Not exactly. The song was initially in Gaelic for the 1991 album Shepherd Moons. She included the lyrics "far and away" in the English translation because a deal was made to have it on the soundtrack album and for film scenes to be used in the music video. It was all strictly a commercial and promotional thing. It didn't really help the movie any and the song got nominated for a Razzie.

Guess I finally liked a song nominated for a Razzie.

Kidding aside wasn't there a longer version of 'Leaving Home' in the extended version of the film or is my memory faulty?

Thanks

The song was rerecorded for the film with those lyrics.

The original version of Enya's song "Book of Days" on her 1991 album "Shepherd Moons" had different lyrics in Gaelic.

Enya presumably really liked the rerecorded 1992 version of "Book of Days," because she actually switched it on all pressings of the album going forward, so only the very few 1991 pressings of that CD have the original Gaelic version now.

I have an old audio cassette of that 1991 version of the album somewhere, I'm a huge Enya fan smile

That's cheap. Us international customers pay $16,75.

Do you think it will still around by March 13 ?

It's a much better score than the film deserves. I'm not a big fan of the Irish sounding music though, especially after James Horner recycled so much of it in Titanic.

It will still be around NEXT March.
These things don't sell out like the olde days so much.
But if you want it quick smart, order it now, cos they press them in runs, and you might wait some time for it to be restocked, once the initial press is gone.
