Great release, no question. But... Where is Endless Night?

This has bothered me since 1982, and this new reissue, great-sounding as it may be, makes no exception: Why does the CD end with a track which is used in the middle of the picture and not with "Humanity Pt.2", which is the actual (and fitting) end title?!

Doesn't appear to be. But these days, I ain't taking any chances. It's my favourite movie of all-time. Ordered!

I think everything is limited these days, the future of physical media being what it is. These days, if something comes out that I want, I tend to try buy it immediately, if I can. You just never know when things can fall OOP, even if licenses are maintained. Look at the sorry saga of Intrada's The Rocketeer, hopefully its coming back soon, but some of us who procrastinated have been waiting for years.

Besides which, in the Covid19 age, supply and manufacturing runs can be limited or delayed outside of any 'control'.

Guess you'll have to ask Morricone, since that's how he arranged the album.

Samples sound fantastic. Can't wait to have this beast in my hands (and ears).

I think the samples don't sound different from the previous releases of the score.
But I've only checked them on the computer, not a home stereo system.

It was my impression that Morricone as he often did, wrote self-contained pieces for Carpenter to arrange in the film as he wanted to.

'Bout time. I'm a little apprehensive about the source being the album master, as opposed to the original studio tapes.

But mastering engineer Malone will make the most of this sumptuous Morricone album, no doubt. With his efforts, you get the best of the high and low ends, with very judicious noise reduction.

Can't wait! Quartet Records is really knocking them over the fences with the likes of this release and the stellar Ghost Story.

Yeah, but if you know the film (and most of us will know it by heart - I do!) it makes absolutely no musical or dramatic sense to listen to the album in sequence because you know where the tracks are in the movie.

--> See JURASSIC PARK's 7 minute end title track placed in the middle of the CD as Track 7 "Welcome to Jurassic Park"!!!!! for that matter... (and putting a 3 min abbreviated version of track 7 called "End Credits" at the end of the CD??!) Whatever devil rode John Williams I'll never know...

This seems a missed opportunity to have a definitive release of all the music composed by both Morricone and Carpenter. I'm guessing there's all sorts of legal wrangling that has prevented that from ever happening, or maybe Morricone himself?

Somebody i once interviewed about Morricone was impressed with this Ennio score and said it was as "icy and barren as the bleak landscape it depicts." It might've been Stephen Woolston. Cant remember.

Might be worth it just for a crystal-clear version of Humanity pt2 alone.

I don't think a the album order of film score cues must necessarily be film order, especially not for a score that was cut and past into various places. "Humanity Part II" was the first and the last Morricone cue used in the movie, so it could have been at the beginning of the CD as well. I'm quite happy with the arrangement Morricone came up with, though I wouldn't say it is the only sequence. Though I don't see what should prevent one to listen to "Humanity Part II" as final cue if one is so inclined. The sequence on CD may have been "optimized" for LP listening, but it is still okay the way it is. I like this album a lot. I agree film order is sometimes beneficial for the musical flow, but I think "Humanity Part I" (which is heard later in the movie) is definitely the piece to open this film score with.

I think that Carpenter's own contributions were limited to single tones and drones. Not knocking it, it was very effective in the movie but I'm not sure it would stand up on its own.

Yes, it was effective in the movie, but the cues did not really belong to the Morricone score. (I would not have minded were they added in a bonus section, but if they aren't there, well, no biggie.)
