JJ Abrams was 15 or 16 when he scored Nightbeast (1982) for Don Dohler.

thanks, guys - I appreciate everyone's input. I should spend more time in this forum, and I will try and dig up lil' Zoe's work on Conan. Grace will probably end up giving a co-writing credit to her producer, Ido Zmishlany, but she did the lions share of the work with the song that she wrote for "Stargirl" at 14yo. She also played the lead in the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7cgQ-6tCMU Her song Florets (written at 13 yo) was put to dance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX2wo_t6NSk and she likes to have a bit of fun now and then when she is not writing songs (2 short instagram vids): https://www.instagram.com/p/CByxampDAJC/ cheers! aldri49 Since you joined the board to make your initial post, I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and posit that you are either related to this young woman or you've worked with her or have some relation to her, and are trying to see if she can take the position that she's the youngest. In the end, who really cares?

Literally just watched this film last night. I thought, when I saw his name (credited as Richard Bennett) come up.... "wow, he must have been young". It wasn't a good score thought..... Quite dreadful in places actually. Never saw that flick myself, Mark. I guess the music was written in crime jazz mode? Other early "Richard Bennett" film scores I like include The Mark (1961), Joseph Losey's Blind Date, The Devil's Disciple & Hammer's The Man Who Could Cheat Death (all '59).

In the end, who really cares? I'm just a fan. I did join to make the post because I am curious. I've gotten excellent feedback here for the most part and I'm very appreciative of that. As for "who really cares", thats entirely a matter of opinion. Whether its Alma Deutscher, Rachel Flowers, Jacob Collier, or some other young prodigy, people have a natural fascination with their achievements and this type of trivia. I don't care if Grace "wins" the competition or not - its no big deal to me. I also know she is not a prodigy in the same league as Alma, Rachel, Jacob or likely most of the artists that were brought up here. I listen to all types of music and am an older guy. Bartok, Debussy, Broadway show tunes, John Williams, Chick Corea, Bjork, Mark Isham, Joni Mitchell, Allan Holdsworth, The Beach Boys, Radiohead.....not just Grace VanderWaal.

Most people here listen to a wide variety of music. As to this young lady, don't know about her acting, but the song from the film was typical of today's "music" - three chords plunked on a ukulele with that breathless, tuneless "singing" that every young female singer emulates today. Not my cuppa. Alma Deutscher, on the other hand, is very interesting and worth watching.
