These are apparently newly remastered. And may I ask exactly what two tracks were left off what album?

Out of interest, I know this box set does not include Herrmann's classical recordings, but what do people think about his The Planets? It seems to get pretty bad reviews overall, but what do we think? Do we covet it? Cheers

I welcome the set and don't mind that the set's focus is on Herrmann's film scores, as the classical recordings by Herrmann I'm familiar with just aren't all that good (in comparison to the many superior versions available).

It seems to get pretty bad reviews overall, but what do we think? Do we covet it? Cheers The most common criticism is the tempi. I got the original Decca Phase-4 LP when it was first released. It's still in excellent condition, and it's on my list for LP-to CD transfer. Over time, I gradually came to appreciate the Herrmann tempi choices. I find "Mars" to be even more powerful under his baton, and the others, especially Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, have far more gravitas.
