Expansions, expansions, expansions...

Not for me. I don't think I have played the 1994 Varese disc in 20 years.

I haven't played it since..........euh 1994 actually.

Much better Badham or Zimmer scores to visit/re-visit and release or expand

Agreed.

Our specialty label heroes have now done the scores to 7 of Badham's 16 films.

  • Dracula 1979 (John Williams) - Varese 2018
  • Whose Life Is It Anyway? (Arthur B. Rubinstein) 1981 - FSM 2009
  • WarGames 1983 (Arthur B. Rubinstein) - Intrada 2008 & Quartet 2018
  • Short Circuit 1986 (David Shire) - Varese 2008
  • Another Stakeout 1993 (Arthur B. Rubinstein) - Intrada 2018
  • Drop Zone 1994 - Quartet 2021
  • Nick of Time 1995 (Arthur B. Rubinstein) - La La Land 2016

The ones they haven't done yet are

  • The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings (William Goldstein) 1976
  • Saturday Night Fever (David Shire) 1977
  • Blue Thunder (Arthur B. Rubinstein) 1983
  • American Flyers (Greg Mathieson & Lee Ritenour) 1985
  • Stakeout (Arthur B. Rubinstein) 1987
  • Bird on a Wire (Hans Zimmer) 1990
  • The Hard Way (Arthur B. Rubinstein) 1991
  • Point of No Return (Hans Zimmer) 1993
  • Incognito (John Ottman) 1997

I would also have loved FOOTSTEPS by Chris Franke, a 2003 TV movie score.

I do believe that Bird On A Wire is finally coming out probably in conjuction with Kino Lorber's Blu Ray release in June

If this is true, the summer is saved.

Why do you guys still even have the CD if you don't want to listen to it?

Because I may listen to it in the future. And there are some cool comments from Badham in the booklet, telling me to play it loud so the neighbours will call the cops.

I actually remember that. I think there's something about the "new DTS format" in the booklet unless I'm mistaking it with something else.

My copy arrived today and wow. What an awesome release. Speaking of booklets, the interviews in the expanded version are great. I totally didn't know that practically this whole score was done on just samples.

I ordered from SAE too. Luckily their shipping is usually pretty fast. We probably won’t be waiting that much longer.

    Really looking forward to this.

Got it yesterday and it was worth the 25(??) year wait! I miss these days of action scoring something fierce. Zimmer was the undeniable master of action scores in the mid 90s!

You’ll have to forgive those of us who actually still pay for our CDs and support these labels for being enthusiastic about receiving this product that you obviously have no interest in but still feel compelled to post about.
