How to Train Your Dragon 2?? Didn’t Powell mention it was coming soon!

yes that is a good bet for one of them. I wonder if Varese and Omni are a little miffed at Powell dropping the bomb on their upcoming releases?

Powell's post specifically said the HTTYD 2 expansion was coming out via Back Lot Records.

Varese has nothing to do with that score.

Fair but Omni Music is releasing the study score.

Now that's a Goldsmith score I would love to have in an expanded CD.

Now would be a great time for Scream 3 with both Halloween and Scream 5 on the horizon.

I'm still waiting for a release of John Williams TV themes. There's never been a commercially available recording of his numerous NBC themes, the Great Performances theme, the Evening at Pops theme, etc.

And there probably never will be.

As much as I love Goldsmith, he's no substitute for Conti with me. Plus it's been ages since they released a Conti.

Just curious: Are there any remaining unexplained damage Conti titles they hold the rights to, or are you mainly hoping for certain premieres?

'Blood In Blood Out' expanded please !!!

As I have mentioned in other related threads, the rights to this score reverted back to the film company which made the film.

Hopefully neither of them will be anything I want. This year has been a pricey one for music.

Will The Other and The Mephisto Waltz ever get proper releases--with more music, and missing elements?

I bet Crow will come for October. Clubs seems to be coming consistently every 2 months now - next one would be around Halloween, I bet crow will land then.

Plus the CD will come out the same day as the vinyl, which is supposed to be in October e.g. Varese's The Matrix: Complete Score CD and vinyl was released on the same day.

What they would release at Halloween is on their agenda during all their announcements any time of the year.

Even though I got definitive word from Varese that they are NOT doing it...I'll say it anyway, cause any stir of the pot is...well...

Clubs seems to be coming consistently every 2 months now

I wouldn't say that.

  • Friday January 8th - Looney Tunes Back In Action & Babe
  • Friday March 19th (10 weeks later) - Along Came A Spider & The Serpent and the Rainbow
  • Friday April 30th (6 weeks later) - Lionheart & Knowing
  • Friday June 11th (6 weeks later) - The Matrix and Paycheck
  • Friday August 27th (11 weeks later) - ??? & ???

That's an average of one batch every 1.6 months.

What they would release at Halloween is on their agenda during all their announcements any time of the year.

So Varese releases a single "dark" batch (the March one, with one horror score and one thriller score) out of their four Club batches this year, and that to you makes them the "Halloween" label. Mmmkay. Claiming that the incredibly varied lineup of Looney Tunes, Babe, Lionheart, Knowing, Paycheck, and yes even The Matrix are all "Halloween" movies continues to be a fascinating flex! You are full of unique insight.

Please please let it be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie!!

This is one of the few Graeme Revell expansions I would likely buy, despite the temp lift from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (hey at least someone had good taste I guess). The score is chock full of melody and nice orchestral writing.
