Help! I listen to Basil's main theme and all I keep hearing is THE RIGHT STUFF!

Same here, the theme is to close to Conti's for comfort.

It shares a few notes but otherwise there's no comparison.

I think it is almost identical to Conti's theme. Henry where are you?

The first seven notes are very Right Stuffy. But then it goes a different way. Hard to miss, though.

Wonderful to have the Poledouris score. Ordered immediately.
I do hope that on the site's excellent cover thread, someone can post a nicely-retouched cover in high resolution for the new CD, with Zimmer's name removed.

Okay, that's just being rude. Whatever you might think about Zimmer, he did write music for the film and they did include some of it in the film - also, as Simon Underwood told me in another thread when I complained about a (hypothetical) release there's such a thing as a skip button... or Liquid Paper.

It's not necessarily out of malice for the other composer. I'd like a cover of The Golden Child without Colombier's name on it... not coz I hate the guy's music, I just don't have any of it on my iPod.

So happy it's released. Basil's score is splendid ("Wolf Dance" is very similar to Flesh+Blood and Conan's styles) and Zimmer's sounds great.
Let's hope a complete On Deadly Ground someday...

Same here. I want for JENNIFER 8 as well that reflects what score from what composer you are hearing.

A female friend of mine loves this score so much that she had the main theme sheet music tattooed on her wrist (so that as you turn the wrist the music "plays"). This CD will make her day!

That is pretty damn cool!

Both scores sound great in my ears, although I probably lean more towards the Zimmer material.

Wow, interesting! Had it been the Zimmer-score only on a single disc, I guess I would have bought it right away.

I have a track by Zimmer from White Fang on the Follow Your Dreams Vol. 2 album, called The Ascent. It runs for 1:50, and it's actually The Staircase on the Intrada CD.

Nice to see Intrada finally release a Zimmer score. Samples sounded really cool.

Anyone know the film order of the combined scores?

Regarding THE RIGHT STUFF similarities...

I've always thought both Horner's ROCKETEER and the WHITE FANG main theme sounded very similar to it.
I would hazard a guess it's down to temp-track-itis.
I wouldn't worry too much for Conti though, it's highly doubtful the melody started with him wink

You're right!
Those first few notes are spot on!

...and then listen to this Tchaikovsky guy at the 7:00 minute mark!

How do guys like Poledouris and Tchaikovsky get away with it? big grin

glad to see they used the same front art* as i did on my special edition release.wink
for my back cover/alt. front cover i used a great painting by wildlife artist Robert Bateman of a lone wolf in the snow:
http://www.world-wide-art.com/Robert_Bateman/New_Territory_Black_Wolf/vaid17254.html

to call this a great release is almost insulting - beyond words!!!!!!!!!!!
brm

*features Poledouris' name only
