I was very disappointed by the two-part season opener, including the scoring which sounded pretty generic and likes Kiner took a back seat while the two or three additional music composers handled the bulk.

However, today's new two-parter has more than made up for that, both story wise and scoring wise(sans two or three cues).

Looking forward to it.

I hate the new schedule. It used to be on Saturday nights so then I could get it on Sunday and watch it with my kids. Now I have to wait until Tuesday.

I haven't watched episodes 3-4 yet, but I was very pleased with the scoring at the end of episode 1 (weapon aftermath and end credits). Maybe one of my favorite pieces done for this series.

Do these scores use a live orchestra, or are they synth-based?

Almost all synth, although on Clone Wars, Kiner paid for an orchestra for at least one story arc (the season 5 Ahsoka accused arc).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rebels score has been sweetened by live strings here or there, but I don't recall any fully orchestral moments.

Sounds mostly orchestral, with some cues here and there sounding like they were made with a computer.

If that's the case, I stand corrected! I would have sworn that the first two albums sound completely synthetic

They were using a 30-piece orchestra in season one. Maybe later on the use of an orchestra was reduced for certain episodes.

Anybody catch the First Blood quote (:05 - :23 here, but it actually starts with the episode)? I had to rewind three times just to get back to the rest of the story.

Jerry Goldsmith in Star Wars...

Cool, although you'll need to slow it down slightly (if you can) when playing these back. They're sped up slightly.

I find that very hard to believe.

I didn't recognize it as First Blood, but I did hear some very Jerry bits.

Kiner has transitioned away from the more direct Williams quotes the last four episodes.

Today's episode opens with X-Wings and a space battle, utilizing ideas from Williams' scores.

Yeah, it's a terrible load and the volume is low and you have to speed it up a notch.

While the second half of the final season has not begun airing yet (supposedly it starts this month), the scoring has been completed.

The new clips begin about 1:12 in; the rest is recaps from the series so far, so, some spoilers.

Last night's two episodes had some amazing music. Almost none of it was Williams. It was almost disconcerting when he quoted Rescue of the Princess (the chasm scene). When the show started it was almost wall to wall Williams.

I'm really hoping when this wraps up we can get a season 3 and 4 soundtrack(s).

I was happy to hear it go full-on Williams for when Kanan comes to the rescue.

No doubt at the demand of Disneyfilm.
