I was very disappointed by the two-part season opener, including the scoring which sounded pretty generic and likes Kiner took a back seat while the two or three additional music composers handled the bulk.
However, today's new two-parter has more than made up for that, both story wise and scoring wise(sans two or three cues).

I hate the new schedule. It used to be on Saturday nights so then I could get it on Sunday and watch it with my kids. Now I have to wait until Tuesday.
I haven't watched episodes 3-4 yet, but I was very pleased with the scoring at the end of episode 1 (weapon aftermath and end credits). Maybe one of my favorite pieces done for this series.
Anybody catch the First Blood quote (:05 - :23 here, but it actually starts with the episode)? I had to rewind three times just to get back to the rest of the story.
They were using a 30-piece orchestra in season one. Maybe later on the use of an orchestra was reduced for certain episodes.
I find that very hard to believe.

Jerry Goldsmith in Star Wars...
I didn't recognize it as First Blood, but I did hear some very Jerry bits.
Kiner has transitioned away from the more direct Williams quotes the last four episodes.
Last night's two episodes had some amazing music. Almost none of it was Williams. It was almost disconcerting when he quoted Rescue of the Princess (the chasm scene). When the show started it was almost wall to wall Williams.
I'm really hoping when this wraps up we can get a season 3 and 4 soundtrack(s).
