Well as Queen said. And another one bites the dust.

I'll be in Manhattan next month. Will I be able to pick this up in a store somewhere? Nope

Do any of you guys own those LP's they sold at, I think Hardees restaurant WAY back in the day. They made 4-5 I think, they were half the size of an LP, whatever that is, I forget. They were like story books with the actors and had some score on them, kind of cool. I still have mine somewhere. Looking at the back of the inlay, I see Watertower, Universal Music and WB, I imagine getting all those folks to agree on all this was VERY time consuming and expensive. I'm glad that all involved did it and were able to get this out to us.

What a great time we live in where we are able to purchase scores that we've wanted since we were 10 years old! :-) As I walked out of that seedy Minneapolis theatre back in the summer of 1984, all I could think about was that catchy Gremlin rag. I didn't even notice the hookers on the corner at first. Here is the true and funny story of that day: my parents, brother and I were on a cross country summer vacation, and in a scene right out of the movie Vacation, my "very-unfamiliar-with-the-area" folks drove smack in the middle of the bad section of town so that we could see this film. Despite the shady characters surrounding the theatre, my parents didn't want to deny us from seeing a movie we had been begging about for weeks, so they reluctantly took us in. Upon leaving, it had gotten dark and the ladies of the night had come out to "work". Anyway, I'm humming the rag to myself and my little 6 year old brother starts pointing at the scantily clad lovely ladies and saying "look Mommy!" My Mom very quietly whispers "Don't point at the hookers" to which my brother YELLS "What's a hooker, Mommy?" Ahh, good memories. Thinking back on it, perhaps my bro was too young to see this film, but then again he loved his big stuffed squeaking Gizmo doll, so I guess it didn't traumatize him too much. Just about every movie I saw during my childhood now has a complete score release. Thank you to Lukas and FSM and everyone else involved for making an effort to get all this music heard. And hopefully future generations will be able to discover and enjoy them too. Cheers!

Expected, but excellent news nonetheless. I'm glad they also include the original album program (with the songs). I wonder how the score proper holds up as a listening experience with all those short, fragmented cues. I seriously have to consider this, as I've long since said I was going to buy an expansion of this when it came out. It must be torture, Thor. Sort of like a Christian Scientist with appendicitis.
