Only interested in John Williams' contribution to the series. That's why I dropped the previous LLL sets (too expensive). I remain undecided. Is it worth it? It's worth it if you feel it's worth it. For simply the John Williams stuff, maybe not. I can say "hey you're missing out on great music from other composers" but if you're not interested, you're not interested. To be blunt, no. No music is worth that kind of money. What kind of money? $40??? For a 3 CD set? $13 per CD ain't much at all.

My copy arrived today and I'm on my second CD now. The sound quality is f'n amazing, I'm thrilled with the presentation. So much great music. I'm happy to finally hear the full cue for the cliffhanger at the finish of End of the World. It was truncated on the DVDs/blu rays and most syndicated prints. It was longer to cover the announcer saying "The Time Tunnel will be back in a moment!" Then they went into the third and final one minute preview clips of future episodes: "this is the incredible Time Tunnel in the weeks to come!" It's surprising so much music form this series survived when Voyage and Giants were guttet, but I'm grateful it exists and that all of you folks like Neil, Jeff, Matt, MV and all the others have put so much effort into getting these cues out there. The liner notes are, as usual, excellent. Another "grail" down!

Jeff Bond's liner notes mention the cliffhanger music for "Crack of Doom" was left unused for the scenes from the following week's "Revenge of the Gods." He speculates that since the title "Bleeker St. East" and the music don't match the footage, some changes were made prior to air. The music was actually used wholesale at the end of "Reign of Terror" which was the cliffhanger leading to "Secret Weapon." The scene takes place on a street in an unspecified Eastern Bloc country, which probably explains the title. That episode was 5th in production order, while "Crack of Doom" was #8, but perhaps the plan was to run just after this one before changing their minds and bumping "Secret Weapon" to November, probably to put it in during the "sweeps" weeks. It was a pretty strong episode.

Unfortunately, I suspect THE TIME TUNNEL used a lot of historical movie music and I know it used music from DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA episodes, LOST IN SPACE music barely, JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH heavily, GARDEN OF EVIL, KING OF THE KHYBER PASS, THE LAST WAGON, PRINCE VALIANT, and at least one Robin Hood movie and others. TIME TUNNEL is the LEAST interesting show of Allen's (and the 60s in general) musically. You just listed a boxcar load of incredible scores by genius composers and then followed that up with "TIME TUNNEL is the LEAST interesting show of Allen's (and the 60s in general) musically." My eyes rolled pretty hard. . No, Dear, the LOST BOMB fight music that is also heard when Nelson and Sharkey fight the shadow man in DEADLY INVASION is resoundingly NOT on the set and I get that it was either not there or damaged. You also didn't understand: musically, IMO, TIME TUNNEL'S original scores are the least interesting. NOT the stuff they stole from other movies. That stuff is great and is also used in LOST IN SPACE and VOYAGE, again and again, some of it. LAND OF THE GIANTS IMO has the MOST interesting new music, original in 99 percent of its episodes and yet, it gets shafted. One of the creators of the set, on this forum, more than admitted that his "bosses" wanted a "best of" release for LOTG while NOT doing that for VOYAGE and TUNNEL, so I have more than a reason to feel disappointed and bitter as this means that THEY DO have more from LOTG that was NOT released. Of course, there will always be those that want people who have different opinions other than their own tasteless ones, to shut up and not express themselves. I express anyway in the slim hopes that La La Land will hear that and hopefully do another LOTG release before any of the other three shows find a new release. You and I will never agree. Thankfully.

Thanks, sweet 'ums, for clarifying. You also didn't understand: Because you didn't state clearly. Again. You just started bitching. Again. Of course, there will always be those that want people who have different opinions other than their own tasteless ones, to shut up and not express themselves. You can have different opinions, I don't honestly care if you think LOTG music is more interesting than The Time Tunnel. Express your opinion like rational person and discussion is interesting and fun. But if all you do is swing onto this forum just to complain on Irwin Allen score threads about how shitty your favorite show was treated then you come off looking like an ungrateful D hole. That's on you. It's not a matter of opinion or musical taste, it's just lousy manners and typical of internet fandom of old TV shows. If it makes financial sense to release a second volume and if there's enough music to support it, then it'll happen. In the meantime, if you expended some energy pointing out what you LIKE about these releases without tossing in complaints, you'd find some interesting discussions and less friction. You and I will never agree. Thankfully. We actually might, we enjoy the same music, you just need to stop crabbing all the time.

Hey Charles124, it's a wonder anything got released from LotG and VttBotS. The only niche market I can think of that's smaller is the province-town musician selling his own CDR's at a flea market. Seriously, we should be grateful for what we get. Scott has suggested as much elsewhere, and he really misses what's not on the set.

TBH, that point was lost in the reaction to your barrage of negativity, Charles. I'm sorry for my part in it, just try to look at the positives of these releases and hope for the best in the future.

If you get the DVD or Blu Ray sets, Howard, the previews are included as a bonus. The only thing missing from those sets are the In Color bumpers. At least the music is on the CD set. The Blu Rays look freaking outstanding. They're made in the UK but region free.
